Wow! Helen...
The leader of the Democratic Alliance, Helen Zille, gave her domestic worker a house valued at R750k because she did not want her living in a shack. Zille has declared her interest in the property in the latest Register of Member’s Interests. Apparently it is the second house that she has bought for her domestic worker.

Zille says that Grace Voyiya had helped raise her sons and had looked after the family for the past 17 years.
Rest of story here

She should have made this story before the elections.

Wouldn't have mattered. She's been part of anti-apartheid since like forever, but the ANC still makes her out to be big racist. And it seems like most black people just can't look past the color thing when voting.

The ANC would have spun it to still make her look racist. I think she's a mature politician who has learnt better than to spar with the likes of Malema. Mind you the ANC has never engaged her, they've instead allowed the rabids (Malema, Tony, etc) to savage her.

What with the houses these guys own, we should all work for government, do nothing, get paid plenty.

I presume the property is still in her name, otherwise there would be no need to declare it?

As a premier doesn't she live in a government owned house? If that is the case then her own house must have been unoccupied and the domestic worker just lives there. Still very commendable on her part as most politicians would have put the house up for rent. I mean, the politicians in the UK can learn a thing or two from her:erm:

I don't think this word means what you think it means.

Thifty adj. : Mindful of the future in spending*money.

Yes, that's pretty close to what I meant. R750k either buys a gigantic house in the townships or a tiny house in the 'burbs.

What utter BS, you can buy decent houses in decent suburbs for that dough, as opposed to a shack?

Keep in mind that the salary of a Metro mayor is determined by the ruling party. She had a huge salary thanks to the ANC :)

Good to see what she spent it on... ;)

Is not. THat is not the ANC's money that is only the whiteys money.
:rolleyes::rolleyes:[

I would like see if any of the ANC fat cats... who profess to care so much about their "comrades" has bothered to do ANYTHING like this with their vast fortunes which the gained via procedurally irregular means...

So assume she just made herself destitute by buying her domestic worker a house then?

Not destitute, I'm sure. Just shows: she'd rather forgo the ministerially handbooked standard of a German sedan in order for her maid to live in decent conditions. Admirable, no?

Maybe after they have taken care of their families (consisting of 21 odd kiddies :) ) there is no moolah left to spend on anyone else.
