They have the wireless dongle (with stand and extension cable) for the PlayonHD for 300 odd rand.
I've heard rumours that the dongle will also work on the mede8er, will try it out next week

Had someone pick up the player for me but they didnt get the dongle for some odd reason (she said she didnt see it thereAny news?
Lets get back to the topic, Is the Mede8er R500 better than the PlayOn!HD ?
I want to get one of these next week, but can't find a definitive answer as to which one is better.
Well I guess that is a matter of opinion, and how much R500 means to you. I did a lot of research and decided to get the Mede8er because the rave reviews it was getting. So far I have not had a video file that will not play so I am happy. Just get the Mede8er, you can't buy much with R500 nowdays anyway...
In terms of UI, which one is better? From the screenshots it looks like the Mede8er pulls movie information where as the PlayOn does not?
Short answer... NO! And I challenge anyone to provide a reason why they think it is even worth R100 more.
Same here with the PlayonHD. You claim you did a lot of research so share your reasons as to why you think it is worth R500 more.
The Mede8er won the MPC Club Best Value award. Considering they reviewed both players and the Mede8er still won the best value award (even with it's higher price) it has to say something.
The problem is that the best value award is clearly linked to the price of the product... here in SA we have the Playon being sold for R500 cheaper than the Mede8er. In those reviews it shows the Mede8er at €150 including the wifi stick and the Playon at €148 (no wifi stick).
I still think at the current pricing here in SA the choice is not cut and dried based on a "best value" award. That would knock around €50 off the Playon price shown above... which I'm certain would score it some "best value" points!
