media centre

MCE remote + Mediaportal + hauppauge pvr150

Haven't used MCE so cant really comment on that, Mediaportal is
working fine but is a bit unstable, especially using tv-server.

My setup is as follows:

Media Center RCA A/V outputs connects to my old VCR's RCA inputs.

The VCR's RF outputs connects to living room TV.

The VCR's RCA A/V outputs connects to my bedroom TV's RCA inputs.



So basically the VCR splits to Audio/Video from the Media Center to the two TV's. A Remote Blaster takes care of the remote.

It works fine except for the remote blaster that sometimes gives me issues. That's why I would ideally like to have another MC Extender in the bedroom.
 
I use VGA for my LCD... so it runs at a higher resolution than what Composite can output.

True. But there are currently no HD TV broadcasts and since my living room TV is still a CRT, the quality is fine for me.

Of course, if your TV is already HD capable then you won't be happy with composite.
 
i run vga to my 32" lcd, very good quality, running media centre now with klite codec's that work well. anyone know how to get thumbnails to work in media centre? mine just say "cannot display image"??

Klite codec pack is what I use, make sure to tick the option to allow previews when installing.

if i view thumbnails in explorer they are just black, should they display a scene of the movie??? how do i enable it now??? :) after install

Depends on the clip some will show a scene some not, I do a custom install of klite and then choose allow preview there... don't know how to after installation.
 
You could try the following:
1) Put each Video in it's own folder
2) Save a picture that you want to display for that video as "Folder.jpg"

Or

If it's Movies you are storing, install "MyMovies" plugin - FTW !!!!

It will download front covers, back covers, description, actor/director biographies etc.etc.
 
i use movie collector for that, but one can view synopsis ect but one cant direct play from the info i have to go through the info of movie ie i have to go back navigate to my videos and select the one i was viewing info on, hope this makes sense?

Sorry, I don't know Movie Collector.
With MyMovies, it creates a new item in your MCE menu and displays are your movie covers in a grid (similar to your CDs). From there you can select the movie and watch it directly.
 
cool thanks, i see that my movies is free to a certain point, do you have the free version??? is it enough or do you have to get the full version? i just want to be able to check what movie is about and play? i see u can play direclty but is that included in free version, thanks for all the help

MyMovies is free for personal use. This is the full version with all functionality, including playing directly.
You must download the Server&Client edition.
 
I have a Q
I have installed the MyMovies + got all my front covers for viewing inside of WMC on vista.
I have followed this

which supposedly should get me able to play ripped Video_TS file from the hard-drive.
I have the library with covers loading but when i double click on the movie and choose "Play' i just get
"DVD Error
Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD"

File structure checked for library is Z:/Movies on an external drive.

IF i create the same folder structure on the PC harddrive VS the external it WILL play fine

Anyone been down this road before & have a fix ?

If anyones interested mounting the external drive to an internal drives folder gets them all playing.

non ISO files too(Video_TS).
