Media Player no files in root directory

I have an Isonic media player with 320Gg drive.

However it keeps losing the file directory when i plug it in to the tv. although when i plug it back in to the computer the files are there.

It shows the ROOT folder and says there is nothing in there,
Any ideas on how i can fix it?

Would appreciate any help.
 
I don't know that media player, but quite often these things have issues with the -files- being in root and vice versa.

What happens if you put files in a subfolder? Does it pick up the folders?

Also, if you have them in subfolders already, try putting the actual files in root (that's the other issue sometimes, not being able to read subfolders).

Something else to wonder about, how did you format the drive? NTFS or FAT32? Even though it says "NTFS supported", normally i'd still go for FAT32 if i'm using the drive in other devices that does not use Windows OS .

I have organised seperate folders for movies, tv series & music, with sub-folders for each movie/series, etc.

Everything worked fine until I updated files in the series subfolder. Now nothing in that entire subfolder works at all. The movie & other subfolders seems fine though.

thanks again. Will try putting them in the root. Not sure exactly how to format the drive for FAT32. Will give it a go tonight.

The other complexity is that friends update the drive on Windows based machines & I will be trying to fix this on my Mac.

Will give it a bash tonight. Appreciate your help!
 
My Tvix occasionally does similarly odd things with files (in subfolders). Not too sure why playback would mess up files though

Thanks guys - I was just about to post about a similar issue. Ill give this a go now.
 
It could be that the files are not available to you. How are you logging in (which user?)
They may appear missing, but may just be locked out.

Not sure what you mean:o Logging on to the PC we used to copy the files?
A friend added the folder on his PC. When I plugged the player into the TV the folder just had an empty subfolder called Root:confused:
 
Try....

Hey why don't you try cutting all the "new" files onto your pc then give the media player a go, chances are it will work, then simply recopy everything back on to you media player and have a look.....

It might not work but it aides in the process of elimination.:sick:

thats quite a lame attempt at a solution coming from the person who broke my drive in the first place....:cry::mad:

The problem you have is that there is something wrong with the Firmware of the unit , if you Google the net you will find tons of Media Players across the world with the same issue , we too had the same issue with the Esquire PriVio Lite and got it partly fixed with our latest firmware , and should have it fixed with the latest firmware that will come soon

the work around to this problem is to make sure you don’t have file names longer then 40 characters and only three level deep folders and not more then 400 files per folder and you should insist that your supplier provides you with the latest firmware

that is why you getting Root 0 Error ,

the other problem you going to find and I surprised you haven’t got it as yet is when you start filling up the drive it is going to take ages to search


NB : Please don’t attempt to use the firmware of the PriVio Lite on your product as the chipset is different !

I just got mine, it is fitted with the 1t driver, I spend a couple of hours transferring the files to the unit, I eagerly got up this morning and low and behold I had the same problems described in threads found here. My fist move was to update the firmware, this did not work as I only got the searching screen, Second move was to unplug the drive, this did work and firm ware updated successfully. I then plugged the hdd back in and switched everything on, Now I can’t see my files, What now, I can move all these files to my spare HDD and reformat the Esquire but it seems like such a waste, |Any ideas/Help
