Did you do research and check if it could do HD before buying? And what do u mean it cant do HD. Mine does HD just fine, it may be your wifi is too slow. Did you try a network cable? Do you always rant because u didnt do research? By all accounts the ACRyan players are top notch. What speed is your wifi?

bought an AC Ryan media player from Esquire which came with a wireless adapter on the 12 October 2013
I did query in-store and was told that it would be able to stream hd movies.

took it home and normal sd movies streamed fine but it wasn't able to stream HD without a constant stutter/buffering.

I returned the player on the 19th October 2013 (within 7 days)
esquire technical then sent the player back to the supplier.

I had to wait 2 weeks for Esquire to come back and say the media player does not support HD streaming. They didn't even notisfy me or bother to call so i had to keep phoning in and begging for an update!

I requested a refund (As far as i know i can return anything within 7 days especially since its not doing what i purchased it for) and ever since then, i have phoned Esquire twice a week and it is getting nowhere.

The staffs excuses range from will checking with head office, then the technical department and now the manager will phone me back but nearly 2 months down the line it is still not sorted and i am beyond irritated.

I posted a complaint on HelloPeter (first time using HelloPeter as I've never been this irritated before) and finally the branch manager phones me and wants to offer a credit at the store. I refused that as i am so fed up so i had to fight to receive a full refund even though it was within 7 days.

Once they agree to a refund, i get a phone call from the manager saying the wireless adapter is missing.
I returned it all in the media player box and they say as i signed the returned order form (CRO) and the wireless adapter wasn't specified so now i will be losing out in R200 due to their incompetence/dishonesty in losing the wireless adapter. There staff say they never received yet it took them nearly 2 months to tell me this.

I must say that i am appalled and will never buy from Esquire ever again and i encourage all you guys to think twice about using them.

Are there any other options i can pursue to discredit them further?

CPA doesn't cover buyers remorse.

This AC Ryan model doesn't have an onboard network card so i couldn't test it via a lan.

The store advised that it would support HD streaming

My network at home is using 802.11N and couldn't stream HD right next to the router.
I also tested it at work and no such luck.

How is it buyers remorse when i was told that it would work?

That after sales support is the worst I've ever experienced.

What speed is the wifi, and have u tried a memory stick, find the bottleneck first then solve it

Its not buyers remorse but seems to be a misrepresentation by Esquire's staff.

I was specifically referring to "As far as i know i can return anything within 7 days"

It works fine via memory stick however as i stated in store, the reason i purchased it was streaming HD via wifi.

My TV has a built in media player so i wanted to stream directly from my pc. I can already plug in a hard drive/ memory stick and watch HD.

Not sure if you bothered to read his actual post. He asked the sale person, if they don't know then they should say so. I agree you should do research before buying, but his "rant" is about the useless and unethical behaviour of the staff.

Its not easy for EVERY salesperson to know EVERY thing about EVERY device they sell. Maybe its just me but common sense tells me you need a lot of throughput to stream HD and that wifi isnt the best idea for this. Its not rocket science

My rant is that i am losing out and i had to fight for nearly 2 months to get a refund and now its going to be R200 less as they can't find the wireless adapter... and are saying i never returned it!

Yes i understand that i should of done my research but I went into buy a product that was on special for that weekend only.
I don't see why i had to fight so hard for a refund and now i am losing out on my money... Not impressed with that service.

The manager only got hold of me after a complaint on HelloPeter, it takes a lot to get me irritated and this is the first time i have lodged a complaint on the site.

Wait wait, the dongle supports upto 300Mbps receiving,so thats about 37MB/s in receiving speed. That's moooore than enough for HD video. I'm streaming 720p fine on mine, and that's through a thick slab from downstairs

The stupid in your posts is making my head hurt.

Regardless of whether or not the player is performing optimally, this thread is mainly about the "Shocking Service From Esquire Durban!!!". (Hint: Look at the thread title)

If the OP did indeed receive the service he is complaining about, I would also kick up a huge fuss. No one should have to fight for 2 months to get this resolved. And only mentioning after 2 months that the wireless adapter is now suddenly missing? That screams of fishy to me.

Learned my lesson long ago trying to stream HD wirelessly .... Dont Do it!

Personally I have had no issue with returns at the Durban branch... but then again I have not bought much there since all the staff changes...

Esquire would lose me as a customer for sure if the same scenario happened to me.
