Media Players ?

I have the Xtreamer in the lounge works well with my files but not so well with a couple of .flv files and I'm pretty happy with it. Also have the Patriot Box Office player in the bedroom... bad choice, lets just say it was a waste of money, my Samsung Omnia (via CorePlayer) does a better job.

Hi All

Also trying diferent Media Player

Recently had to upgrade the Mvix Media player cause it would not play mkv's

Did a bit of research and everything points at the popcorn C200.... But a little pricey...

Thought of trying to connct PC to TV in Lounge and use Windows Media Centre using HDMI..Ended up going HDMI over Cat 6.. Then did not have sound... Had to find SPDIF cable to connect audio to GTX275 graphics card ...And working fine now but dont have a HDMI Amplifier... So cant hear DTS audio.. Thinking about upgrading Amp, But HDMI standard in flux... Only Onkyo has 1.3/1.4 standard @R9500 .. Eish...

Then bought the Xtreamer.... Great player but cant get Juke Box type functionality ... Forum suggest using RSS and PHP?? But a bit complicated for me... Plus need to Hdd into the unit then.. I want to stream over the network..... Which is also working fine..... Connected the Xtreamer to amp using optical cable.. DTS play perfectly...

So then only the only issue is getting Media Juke Box feel with cover art, genre, directors info etc... Got YAMJ working nicely but Xtreamer players does not play html, Looks Like mede8ater also does not play HTML.....

Seriously thinking of just biting the bullet and getting popcorn C2000..... Allot of support and help guides etc...

Any suggestion / Feedback ?

Well,

I went & got the popcornhour A-200. Same thing as the C-200 without the option of adding a blu-ray drive, and quite a bit cheaper. loving every second of it.

Whats wrong with the Patriot?

I suppose nothing  ....

I've the Popcorn C200 and I am very happy with it however the only bit I dont like is the price so when I was looking for a second media player I got the Patriot Box Office about 2-3 weeks back and so far I must say I am very impressed by it. I'd consider it good value for money (R1100 or so including WiFi Dongle but no internal drive installed). I've an external 1TB drive attached to it and its very easy and simple to setup and use. The quality is at par with the C200 as far as I can tell.

I thought that might be a problem and was prepared to buy an 2.5" internal drive but thankfully my 1TB external plays all media content perfectly including HD movies.

Why did this thread die in 2010"

I'm in the market for a media player and would like some current advice.

Why should it live?
The trend here is to just start a new thread and check out any recent threads.

There's one started by stanboy that's useful-has all latest advice/prices.
