Needles are ok, I cant stand tablets!

You're a real girl you know that.

Tablets can't hurt you!!!

Needles can... and my greatest fear is one of those fscking nurses who just can't get it right.

Only once you've got 1000 holes in you and crying will she get it right.

Come now, needles prick you, no big deal. It is quite tricky to get the damn things in though, just go to your happy place while they are maiming you...:p

I avoid GP's because since coming to Cape Town I am unable to find one that is good enough to do anyting but write out sick notes or prescribe antibiotics. They are utterly useless. Small town GP's actually know how to diagnose stuff.

I've never even seen the inside of a gym. Hardly exercise and pretty much lazy ;)

Went for a medical check up a few years ago they made me 'jog on the treadmill for 3 minutes' to raise my heart rate. Now 3 minutes sounded like nothing to me and I didn't even think I'd break a sweat ...

... yet after a minute she had to stop it and amde me lie down on the bed to receover ... hehe. I was FINISHED

You'd think for tests that are "ridiculously cheap" the Medical Aids will cover it by default and encourage you to go get tested...but nooo, shows you how much they really care.

Sure some packages cover these things, but the -standard- run of the mill "hospital plan" doesn't . So a healthy person basically doesn't get an opportunity to get tested.

A lot of people cannot afford those prices, Lancelot.

Lots of people only get checkups when it is required for insurance purposes.

Oh come on. Why don't these people have a problem spending a couple hundred rand on pc parts, or going out to clubs / dinner / movies, but they don't have the same amount for checking their health?

I'm thinking of having a medical check up, I'm 26 and relatively healthy (I hope). What do you guys think of all the costs involved in this website? http://www.mayoclinic.co.za/life_extension_institute.htm#The Programme (at the bottom of the web page)

Paying R3364.50 (for males) for a full medical check up, is that price reasonable? I'm thinking of booking an appointment with these guys for February maybe, I have to save some cash for a month or 2 for this.

Some medical aids offer this service for free or at a discount... Have you contacted your medical aid?

A doc once couldn't get a needle into my arm properly. Bleed all over the place until he gave up and the nurse did it

Only thing that would make me cry is a large suppository :erm:

Full test being?

A (basic) check-up is usually free on med aid (annually).

More advanced...take OP's pricing and add 50%.

If its something like urologist checkup then you're likely looking at 1k+
