Hi folks

Just a short note to inform you that I have received an email from MTN regarding a possible meeting with us. I have received this email earlier today before the Vodacom meeting details were published here… I hope we are also met with the same positive attitude as we have experienced from Vodacom. I will post all other relevant information here.

MTN: “I would like to set up a meeting with you and relevant senior people here soonest to establish a communication channel, and also to ensure your website community has access to MTN information when questions arise, and technical questions are answered. We can also discuss the user group issue.”

I personally think we should definitely make use of this opportunity to establish working relationships with MTN. Your comments are most welcome as usual.

Regards,

RPM

First Vodacom and now MTN
Good going
Hopefully Telkom will be next...

Suggestions:
1.) As rpm and ic have already formed a representative unit, and have 'melded' already in terms of a common understanding and approach, they should remain the forum representatives to the MTN meet.
2.) This is an opportunity to promote issues of societal development, and not only consumerism - link such issues to a formal communications channel. They have enough bux to do so.
3.) As they will be expecting this, do not hesitate to play off Vodacom and MTN against each other. At the end of the day, consumers benefit.
4.) If a larger representation is warranted, I would suggest you include Phillipa (Peapod), who has good experience of dealing with corporate types and hidden agendas.
5.) Make sure they pay for the breakfast/lunch/dinner.

I always thaught there is no such thing as a free lunch...

;)

LOL @ mbs' free lunch :D.

I think it is great that MTN also want to meet with MyADSL - we the broadband consumer community can only benefit from open communication channels with all of SA's broadband providers.

As SA's Broadband Authority, MyADSL needs to be open to such meetings [IMO] :).

LOL - yup, precisely. MTN will be getting free market research and assessment from rpm/ic, so make them pay! Concerning the converse - don't worry, we'll make rpm/ic pay for their free lunch somehow, I'm sure!

I am just very excited about the fact that major players in the telecoms industry are taking note of what is happening here at MyADSL. It is a welcome sign that what RPM started and is now being carried forth by each and every forum member is respected and regarded as important by industry players.

I have to thank each and every member for making this forum what it is.

Warm regards
Antowan

I was very impressed with the news about the Vodacom meeting. I must admit that I am very surprised and pleased to hear that MTN also wants a meeting. This is indeed good news to see how we are now being taken seriously.

And to think that Telkom once called us a minority. pfffffft to Telkom!

Please keep us informed as to the details of the MTN meeting.

That's great news.

It shows that both Vodacom and MTN have learnt long ago about customer relations - it takes so little effort in the long run and has so many returns.

The word of mouth is so worth it for them - just myself personally I've convinced 3 business guys to go with Vodacom3G over iBurst, so it pays.

Word up iBurst - you can learn valuable lessons from this !

I'm a little confused here. Perhaps you could enlighten me.

When iBurst suggested a meeting they were shot down. Did they go about it the wrong way or something?

Did iBurst suggest a meeting ?
All I remember reading was that noone was scheduling a meeting with Shaun Green ?
That was before the "fall out" when people were accused of "abusing" the service and top management hid behind support staff.

If WBS want an official on the books meeting with MyADSL representatives, I am personally all for it, but it must be supported by WBS' Executive Management.

I do think however that there is a danger of WBS using it purely as a marketing venture, I would not mind being corrected there...perhaps such a meeting should not be about "helping WBS fix their own network problems" ;).

things are cetainly sounding good .... and I am very pleased at the fact that the major telcos are taking notice of this great forum :)
I look forward to hearing the outcome of the meeting

If I remember correctly, right from the beginning, iBurst had no interest in taking myadsl seriously. Pretty much the same as Telkom and Sentech.

Thats why it's so incredibly refreshing that both Vodacom and MTN have stated their interest in what we have to say.

Definitely. As I stated in another post this is a first for me. I've never seen a corporate officialy acknowledging and participating in an online forum. I believe MyADSL has set a precedent for future customer service.

Again, hats off to RPM, the mods and all the knowlegable peeps on the forum. If it was'nt for you guys none of this would be happening and we would all still be stuck in the dark and non-transparent part of a manhole.

It is really a bit of light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel, that the players are coming to the party :D

MyADSL members as a whole can take credit for the positive involvement by broadband players - MyADSL/MyBroadband is clearly the place to be, well done to all :).

Don't meet with Telkom. They would probably hold RPM hostage, demand that MyADSL and Hellkom be shut down and force him to use a 300baud acoustic coupler to negotiate his release.................. :D
