That example provided by you says nothing about "suspected" FN! It says contaminated!
I think you are twisting things to suit your argument!

Paranoid is the word that comes to mind....
At the moment I refrain from using any "suspect" goods and rather go back to fresh produce for safety sake.
F_ckNut, some advice for you then, with your total distrust for this country and it's government, stop eating chocolate, biscuits or any other products that may contain milk powders! In fact don't stop there.... any product on the shelves could be contaminated with something else
The whole world is very afraid of "Made In China" 'black-hearted' goods.
Do you know how to differentiate which products are made in
the USA, or in the Philippines, in Taiwan, or in China?
Here's How:
The first 3 digits of the barcode identify the country code
wherein the product was made.
For Example: ALL barcodes that start with 690, 691, 692, etc., . .
up to and including 695 are all MADE IN CHINA.
Barcodes starting with 471 are printed on products Made in Taiwan.
You have a right to know. But the government and related departments
never inform or educate the public. Therefore we must educate ourselves,
be vigilant, and RESCUE ourselves.
Today, Chinese businessmen know that consumers will not select products
'Made in China'. So, they make every effort not to show or state the country
of origin on their products. However, you can now refer to the barcode.
DO remember if the first 3 digits are one of those between 690 and 695 inclusive then it is a product Made in China .
OTHER BARCODES:
00 ~ 13 USA& CANADA
30 ~ 37 FRANCE
40 ~ 44 GERMANY
49 ~ JAPAN
50 ~ UK
57 ~ Denmark
64 ~ Finland
76 ~ Switzerlandand Liechtenstein
628 ~ Saudi-Arabia
629 ~ United Arab Emirates
740 ~ 745 - Central America
All 480 Codes are Made in the Philippines.
Please inform your family and friends.
Be aware! And help others to be aware!
I got one of "those" emails that float around email boxes, similar to Marine1's, anyhow just going to post the last part.
And as far as I can tell, it's only Nestle products made in China with the writing in Chinese that are affected.

And these types of emails always make themselves less credible by including a phrase like this....
As stated by you, allow people to research themselves. Posting links to products in New Zealand and the UK is not of much use. We are consumers in the SA market!
And these types of emails always make themselves less credible by including a phrase like this.... and the thing is it usually does not even originate in SA
Out of interest the product I use has a barcode starting with 600 which according to this website, http://www.barcodesymbols.com/ean13.htm, is a South African product.... but my understanding is that these products will still use raw materials sourced from other countries so not sure of the helpfulness of that email (and Alf I realise you are just the messenger but thought I'd point this out).
As I pointed out on the Drugalyzer thread, SA does not even have Melamine testing equipment.
Two of South Africa's leading scientific and testing institutions are not able to test if melamine is contained in food imported from China.
The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have announced that they are unable to test for the ingredient, which is used to falsely boost protein readings.

SA babymilk tested for melamine
November 26, 2008 Edition 2
Health Writer
Pick n Pay and Shoprite have withdrawn two babymilk products after the national Health Department found they contained traces of the toxic chemical melamine.
Nestle confirmed that the department had asked them to withdraw a batch of 900g Lactogen 1, made in South Africa in July 2008 (batch code 82050179L1 250g) and a batch of 900g Nido 1+ (batch code 81790181SO2E1M) manufactured in June 2008.
Pick n Pay spokeswoman Tamra Veley said the supermarket was told to recall the products on Friday and had withdrawn them from its shelves.
