Memory Issues

We are sacks of chemicals, creatures made from biological machines. If your doc can't see anything actually wrong, you may be better off going to a psychiatrist. Do you have kids? Do they have ADD? Because they're running the same machinery as you, and ADD is genetic. Go see their doctor, and see how you go on Ritalin, or whatever the cool kids are using these days.

EDIT Your diet directly affects the mix of chemicals in your body, and therefore brain. So yes, it's important.

.. too much? The voices tell me that I'm raving again. I did not notice a difference, but I shall heed their words nonetheless. Perhaps it's time for another little blue pill :p

Yup sorry, I only saw the first page, just noticed there are 4 more.

Went to the doc, went for some tests. All results look ok,

We going to try and improve my memory by controlling diet before we try some things drastic. Will be going for counseling too.

He didn't say anything about not drinking enough?

Alcohol is good for losing days, I don't need that issue too now. lol

No no I'm not saying go binge drinking, I'm thinking more along the lines of a couple of beers or 2 Whiskey's. You'll be surprised what wonders it'll do you.

Feel like I am in a similar boat. Lots of things I just can't remember. I have very few memories of stuff older than a few years unless it was a big event and my short term memory is shocking these days to the point where it is seriously worrying my wife. Perhaps I should start consulting someone about it.

Memory loss is not fun at all. Have it checked out, Seems diet makes a huge difference

I had similar issues - brain fog, difficulty concentrating and forgetfulness. I've discovered that, for me at least, it's all about lifestyle and nutrition, especially the oils and nutrients that the brain needs. I've completely reversed the situation and have wonderful mental clarity and focus and energy - it's really quite amazing how much more functional I am now.

No single factor solves the problem, at least for me.

I have to do ALL of the following to maintain this state:
- regular cardio - 4-5 times a week.
- cut out sugar and eat sensibly, i.e. 3 meals a day with lots of fresh fruit and veg and fibre - the idea is mainly to maintain good digestion and gut health, not so much weight loss. Foods that aid light and easy digestion use far less of your energy (and mental energy) than heavy meals.
- Omega oils and a range of supplements including vitamin B5/6/12, Acetyl-L-Carnitine etc etc, herbal extracts known to be beneficial to brain health (ginseng, ashwaganda, etc) and even a small dose of CBD oil daily.
- proper sleep, preferably 8 hrs
- drastically reduced alcohol consumption, especially binge drinking - now that I'm more aware I've found that even a fairly moderate evening with anything more than two beers negatively affects me for days afterwards.

If I drop the ball on any one of the above, the whole thing reverts. Trust me, if you're feeling like you're lost in a forgetful haze, barely getting through the day and unable to concentrate or focus, you will be amazed at what happens when you do these things. Barring anything else your outlook on life and motivation changes drastically as well. Once you experience this, you will not want to revert to where you were, or at least not for long.
