Messi vs Ronaldo

I am speechless!!!!!!

WoW - what a performance by Messi. He came on when Barca were down 1 - 0. Within 4 minutes he scored to bring Barca back in the game.

15 minutes later he thumped a absolute CRACKER after winning the ball. best part of it was when he won the ball inside the box, the defender clipped his feet and he could have went down and it would have been an obvious penalty, but he decided to stay on his feet and smash the ball home on his weaker foot.

Its amazing how one player can come off the bench and score in the first 4 minutes. He has done this a few times this season.

@ hj2k - Pep has benched Messi a few times this season. He has been using the rotation policy since the beginning of the season. He believes that no player is guarenteed a place in the team, no matter how good they are.

Also he names his team only on the morning of the match day. its his way of keeping the players on their toes and fighting for the starting 11.

Fabio Capello believes that Lionel Messi is Diego Maradona's rightful successor and thinks that the Barcelona star is a better player than either Cristiano Ronaldo or Arjen Robben.

Ronaldo swept the board of individual prizes for 2008 while Robben is standing out at Madrid, but Capello thinks that neither of them is as naturally gifted as Messi.

So the season is more than half way through. Was reading some previous posts in this thread, people saying how Ronaldo is so much better than Messi.

It would seem that their tune has now changed.

My tune hasn't changed . Have always said that based on ability Messi is the best, its just that Ronaldo was better last year based on form. IMO these are the three best players in the world(based on ability)

1.Messi
2. K.a.k.a
3. Ronaldo

The third one stands out like a sore thumb. Both Messi and K.a.ka are excellent players that play the game as it should.

The other one, well he defies belief with all the falling over and moaning he does.

Messi is a wonderful example of being able to be the best without worrying about cheating, falling over at every chance and so on.

K.a.k.a hasn't been at his best for a while now. I read recently that a lot of journos were surprised that he was up for the Player of the Year.

As for Ronaldo, for all his faults, he really is a fantastic player. In the air, free kicks, open play... He fully deserved his awards and accolades last year.
 
20 odd pages and still arguing/debating/discussing/whatever whether Messi is the best. I hope this will be the last post and the mods will close this thread. :)

Bah, k.aka hasn't really done anything this season. AC were eliminated from the UEFA cup, they're third in Serie A. He was the best back when AC Milan won the Champions League in 2007.

Someone mentioned ability wise - without taking into consideration the form they were in. If that's the case... Ronaldinho! Otherwise with Form included. Messi so far pips Ronaldo. If you want to know who the best payer in the world at the moment is. Vidic.

Obviously, he's got no skills like Ronaldo, can't sprint past a player like Ronaldo and cant shoot a ball like Messi but he's the best at what he does, DEFENDING!

EDIT! He's pretty good at headers :p

Ri-i-i-i-ght like in that CL match against Chelsea when he rolled from the Barca goal post into the Chelsea half and got the defender sent off:rolleyes:
