He is an amazing player, but just because he is an amazing player, doesn't mean he has the mental toughness to be THE centre of attention and the Messiah(tm) of a team that would have fallen apart without their Golden Boy. A Maldini he is not.

PS: Just watched the highlights of the Argentina game. Messi's goal looked so easy, I seriously had the impression a child would be able to do it. The whole gamut of their style of play was flawless. Pure footy, at it's very best. *sigh*
 
So true hey. Messi has a way of making things look too easy, some of his goals looks like he is passing the ball into the net.

That was the phrase I was looking for. I always prefer those "make it look like a schoolboy could it" goals to blistering shots from outside the box. Meh... personal opinion's a b1tch :)
 
One more thing. This whole spitgate scandal shows how unwise it is to put too much pressure on such a young player. Fab is undoubtedly highly skilled and a pleasure to watch, but being labeled the Messiah(tm) of any team at too young an age is bad.

Messi was good at times but didn't do anything spectacular. Barca on the whole were good!

Messi has shown his by far the better player in the ronaldo v messi debate.
 
here is a clip from the player rating form The Sun, a paper that never has anything wrong to say about anything "english".

Ronaldo got a 5 by the way in their ratings.

Both of us said before the award he was going to get it and said he deserved to win it last season.Please do a search on the forum.

The one thing we stuck by was that messi was by far the better player.
