Metro 2033 Performance issues

Well when you play single player everything is basically scripted, so there is not much variation. Now when you get online with say 31 other players, your vga card has to cope with people in armour, people all over the show, choppers flying etc. Nothing is in the script everything is random so online play will always use far more graphical power than single player. At least i think so :D.

Guys just run bfbc2 for tonight with fraps open and watch your FPS please. Would like to know. Play on full servers and watch the FPS.

I've played with FRAPS on before and It never went below 40 fps at any given time. But I play at 1920 x 1080 res with everything on high. I think I should have bought a 22" haha :D

I will test it again when I get home today and post the results for you.

not worth the extra buck... i got ultimate and i dont even use half of the extra features....btw, i dont even know what the features are lol

That true in a certain sense I think. When there's a lot of action going on it's more about the CPU than the GPU. There's only that much the GPU can render at any given time, but when a scene becomes full and action heavy the CPU does a lot of the work in calculating the physics, particles etc etc. So I think, this is my guess, that I need a new CPU to alleviate this problem.

I might be completely wrong though. lol :D

I just don't want to get another version and then some of the features I do use frequently are not there, you know. Lol

I can run this game like 90+fps but at times i get very bad stutter then it will go smooth again? my friend says he gets this too; maybe its because its rendering the new area in game?

Yeah, I also got that! At some places where they open gates, right? That's just loading the next area I suppose, because the stutter starts and then stops after a few seconds.

Ok dude, I tested with FRAPS now.

Im running the game at:

DX11 1920 x 1080
High level of detail
High Textures
Low Shadows
High Effects Quality
2x AA
4x AF
HBAO off
Vsync off

My average FPS is a about 50 - 55.
When there's a particularly big explosion in my face it sometimes it drops to 42 but it never goes lower than that. Most of the other random explosions does not affect my FPS.

Yikes how do you play with 55 FPS average . Maybe i can tell the difference between 50 and 100 FPS more or something. Does it give you the max and min FPS that is mostly what i am looking for.

Is that average made up of 80 FPS then dipping to 40's and giving you an average? Normally i can see my max FPS with everything on high with no aa and af of 90 but my min FPS is like 45-50 which tells me with explosions i am losing massive FPS.

I will run a benchmark with fraps tomorrow night. Results may vary though that is the only problem.

Nah dude sometimes it goes up to 75, depends what you're doing but I'm always shooting at something and I'm always in the middle of the explosions lol.

55 is not that bad dude. If I play on a 22" resolution i get better fps but I like to play on my 23" screen's native res which is 1920 x 1080 and that res eats a lot of fps. But it will all be better when I get my new CPU and later another GPU :). But my conclusion is that I don't get the massive FPS drops like you do, there's definitely something wrong there bud.

And yes, you can tell the diff between a 100 and 50 better because you're used to playing with a crossfire setup whereas I'm not you spoiled bastard :D haha

So you don't think a max FPS of 70-80 and min FPS of 40 is a huge drop off? :D. Glad to know it is not my crossfire that goes from 80-110 and drops to like 40-50 during heavy scenes :D.

I have also been reading people are happy playing with 25 FPS

30fps is the minimum I'd live with for a shooter, but I'd aim for 45. You'd have to look pretty hard to notice the difference (well thats me at least). I wouldnt worry too much about it killadoob

Ya i think it depends on the person hey, like i can feel online at 40 FPS it feels slow and laggy but at 100 FPS smooth as butter :D.

Killa, I'd say my average is a solid 50. It goes up to 66/65 when I spawn in the base.

But most of the time it's really around 50 - 55. So I'd say the drop to 40-43 is not that bad. Barely noticeable.
