Going to be moving in a month, will be moving from an Openserve area to a Metrofibre area.

Honestly, I'm a little disappointed as over the last 4 years I have had awesome service from Openserve, literally not a single days downtime in 4 years. Only outages have been from ISP side.

So how is Metrofibre from the perspective of those using it? And is there any particular reason why MF is so much more expensive than most of the other FNOs?

hmmm... Its like a lucky packet. The routers they provide are ****. Their prices are higher than 99% of other ISP's.
There is absolutely no reason for them to be more expensive than the others. My recommendation to you is IF there are other providers available, pass on MFN. If MFN is your only option, then you have no other choice.

Have no idea why its more expensive then the others - I guess to some degree if you the only fibre provide you have some kind of monopoly, either take it or leave it.

There have been outages - so definitely not as good as 4 years without an outage.

I agree 100%. MFN also doesn't inform their clients of planned maintenance. Only when your line has been down and you query it with their shitty call center will they tell you that there are "planned maintenance"

It seems very difficult for them to get the basics right.

If you had to choose between Rain 5G and MFN~Cool Ideas for gaming, which would you choose

Its a difficult one. I see many people experiencing issues with RAIN's network, but then I also hear alot of praise from others.

Try MFN with Cool ideas as ISP and see how that goes. I am also jumping ship from MFN as my ISP to Supersonic but Supersonic still uses the MFN backbone.

My issue with MFN as my ISP is that they are very expensive and their support is non existent. Currently paying R1250 for 50/50 but moving over to Supersonic ill get 200/100 for around R1100.

Yeah letting another ISP manage everything is much better.
The only reason why I will go to MFN through cool ideas is because of latency and port forwarding

Using MFN direct isn't the best option when it comes to pricing. If you want to use MFN as an ISP - look at Gigago, they are owned by MFN & provide the service at a lower price.

For the lower packages, Rocketnet is cheaper.
Also other Gigago site, it get worried when I read "download speeds up to " and upload speed is network dependent.

With rocketnet, I am getting speeds exceeding my package and its cheaper than Gigago on the 10mbs and 20mbs packages which is the only ones I checked

Are you sure?
I see supersonic has 100/100for R1200.
200/100 for R1100 would be a steal

The speeds seem stable & full 99% of the time.

I will look into Rocketnet - what are their local latencies like?

MFN it is around 2ms to 21ms.

Friend of mine is on MFN and hasn't complained at all. Been with them for about 3 years I think. Inside a complex, but Open Access so ISP is Vox and FNO is MFN.

Sorry you are 100% correct. 100/100 for R1200 is right, i am currently paying R1250 for 50/50 and doubt i am getting half of that.

In true monopoly style. Same ISP and same FNO. What could possibly go wrong? Its not like their pricing at the higher end is already more expensive than majority of the competition.

I'm also use MFN, but use Mweb as my ISP as they were the cheapest.. MFN Direct is way too expensive.. Using them for the past 3 months, so far no major issues..

Metrofibre is currently down in my area as I write this, been with them just over a month. Not sure how long it will take for them to restore service... but when they’re up, the experience is good.

Service restored... down from 05:00 - 08:45 - so not too bad. Let's just hope it doesn't happen too often.

Looks like it’s time for the weekly outage. Who decided I can’t have Internet on Thursdays?
