Well worst case is we upgrade haha

But still that 1,000/250 is a mess. That should have been at minimum 1,000/500 like you said even 1,000/1,000… anyways.

Got a weekend ahead to properly mess around here…

Yeah true. You can always just submit and upgrade to 1Gbps.

For me I don't think I will downgrade to from the 1Gbps. Aways wanted the 1Gbps and so far it's been stable right through the evening peak but I will keep an eye on it as time goes on.

Stop tempting me!! *Contemplating if it's worth switching for only 2 months* :crying:

Well done WebAfrica & Afrihost & Jumbo-Technologies & RocketNet and others for implementing the MetroFibre speed bump.

@MWEBHelp
Any news if/when MWEB will apply this speed bump for their customers?

Anyone got the new pricing from Axxess, Easyweb, Jumbo Technologies, Mweb, Supersonic, Vodacom or any other provider not on this list? Drop me a pm if you do, thx :) View attachment 1303916
Looks like @websquadza reversed the price increase on the 50mbps now shows R699 which means double speed and no price increase.

Websquad prices now
20mbps = R529
50mbps = R699
100mbps = R899
200mbps = R1099
500mbps = R1299
1gbps = R1849

It does look a bit better. If that Gbps service was R1.5k like Frogfoot or Vuma, but 1.8k is just a little too pricey. The 250 Mbps is also off-putting.

Hi All,

We are aware of a firmware issue that is causing 500Mbps and 1Gbps clients to get reduced speeds. We are working with MetroFibre on the issue. Their vendor Calix is working on a firmware update that should address the issue.

For now we ask clients experiencing the issue to reach out to us to assist with the slow speeds issue.

Out of interest, which services do you use that you use such a high upload?

I sow my seeds all over ;) (Private p2p tracker and such)

I don't need it, but it's welcoming. Currently, on OS 500/250, was hoping for 1G/1G on Metro then I would have bitten the bullet and did the metro install (atm it's a termination point only)

Do you guys bother protecting yourselves or are you VPN'd to death? I assume you don't offload to a seedbox.
No, I have a paid AV that blocks connections usually if needed and this is an invitation only site, with DHT and all that disabled, so no outside connections :)

To add to this, I haven't come across any VPN that actually works at 500 Mbps+ yet :) Windscribe gives me around 300 Mbps locally depending on the time of day but nothing close to 500+
