Also have had very little issues with them, much better than my ADSL line.

Yea I'm the other way :

My Telkom VDSL was far more consistent. My first downtime with Metrofibre was day after my install ...

Anyway - been battling again the past few nights, but tonight is terrible with 4Mbps speeds

Struggling with my internet tonight. Anyone else got issues?

Getting this on my 50mbps line: https://speedtest.mybroadband.co.za/result/5865888 :(

Also weirdly enough, my router logs has PPOE UP event happening about everyday (when the modem resets) and I have been struggling to connect devices to the network...

Can't stream 480p also???....

I tried clicking ... timed out over and over. sigh

Are they doing maintenance? My service light is off currently

I logged a all this morning with CellC Fibre & they weren't aware of any issues/outage... but it might just be that they're clueless.

I am with MFN and no issues, is your Broadband Light Green, if so the issue is layer 3 and that could well be Cell C

Just want to mention our dire experience with this bunch in the end.

First they were supposed to go live end of May.

Then we were told mid-June as they picked up issues in testing.

Then they said that nothing was done yet because of the Gautrain prohibiting trenching further down the line (hence indicating that the previous statement was a lie), and that they will be going live just before July.

Then a mail came that it will be happening Mid-July, but 2 Fridays ago (6th) I found someone doing final testing, and I asked him what is still left to do, and he indicated that the testing was 100% and that we would get our routers last week.

By Wednesday I mailed them to hear if I can book an installation first. By Friday, no reply so I mail 2 other people that I was in contact with before over at Metrofibre. Still no reply by yesterday afternoon, mail yet another mail I found - the one on the poster in our complex, still no reply by today.

I don't care how good their systems may work in the future, but their lack of communication and honesty sucks.

Does anyone have a contact number/email of one of the higher-ups at Metrofibre?

After the above post's problems, they finally contacted me after I phoned their call centre and mailing all the people I have details to, and a lady organised an activation and marketing session for Saturday. Needless to say, the lady wasn't here on time, and I phoned her an hour after she was supposed to be here, and she refused to answer. I then emailed her to ask whether she's still coming. Until now, she hasn't replied nor phoned me back.

Really not sure what to do except escalate it, and the people I've been in contact with, tend to ignore us, and we've been very patient - so it will need to be someone higher up.

Does anyone know what to do in this situation? There are people waiting to get activated ASAP, but they're just not responding.

We also went "live" the past week, but yeah - communication is a bit lacking...

They dug up most of our "hood" and now it seems they don't want people to sign up?

Wanting to move over from OpenServe, but at this rate... "better the devil you know....".

Will post here once I also have some information

I feel I should also mention some good experience I had with Metrofibre since the last post.

So, last Wednesday my ADSL went dead after various issues with Crystalweb migrating my line back to OpenTekomServe and me requesting that Telkom not add a data line since it would take about the same time as Fibre activation(and me not having to pay for another month's voice or data line).

The Friday before, I submitted my Fibre application, and they said it would take 5-8 working days. So, after everything going dead on Wednesday, I asked them whether Metrofibre can assist me on short notice. The lady said she will try, but can't promise anything.

Day went by, I assumed it would be a long weekend without any internet (preparing to die inside  :(), and got on my way home. 16:32 just before getting onto the Gautrain, I get a Whatsapp from my wife. The installation guy is on his way. :O 16:45 he arrives, not even 5 minutes, he's done. Honestly, it's really just plugging in wires, but this is Africa, so I thought he may be there for over an hour, but he wasn't.

16:50 I get a phonecall from a very polite Metrofibre lady, she says she needs a number on the router sticker so she can activate. As I am not home, I ask her to phone my wife. No qualms from her at all to do that, she goes ahead.

16:57 my wife lets me know that it's activated.

All in all, a very happy weekend.
