I'd like to raise a further toast to two other fallen comrades.

Wrathex and Dixie.

Wrathex, I knew of  but not Dixie

Cancer is a scourge from the pit of hell :(

We need a my bb wall of rememberance

Agreed. Perhaps one which won't be trolled or postwhored?

But yes, some the forum's finest ought to be acknowledged and remembered for their presence that was and (for some) their struggle at the end.

We need a my bb wall of rememberance

When I started my community based Website a decade ago I created a page called "Lost Diamonds" , it seemed like a good idea at the time but as the number of deceased past the one hundred mark it came quite depressing, considering I knew 80% of them.... Sadly the Lost Diamonds page seems to be getting more names added to it than normal of late.....

MickeyD passes and two days later we get a total lunar eclipse. Cosmos paying its respects I see...

i've been away and also unbelievably busy for the last few weeks - hardly been here at all.
seeing someone's avatar by chance, i assumed this to be some strange dark "friday thread" - but alas !!

for half an hour or so i sat here vacantly staring at the wall in front of me, folding and unfolding some arbitrary piece of paper in stunned silence.
it's well established that mcd helped countless people during thier perpetual battles with telkom.

however, what is unknown to anyone here is the fact that lawrence's assistance was integral to the saving of the life of a friend of mine.
without going into specifics, the location of this friend had to be established - there was no time to go through the formal process of obtaining the physical address of 2 phone numbers.
lawrence pulled a string or two - within 20 minutes i had the address, friend was located and life saved.

lawrence, every day tyrone now gets to spend with his son, is largely thanks to your kind assistance.
your favour can now never be paid back, but somehow, it will be paid forward in your memory.

if you have any contact with mac & the family, please pass this on with my deepest sympathies.
it is but only one small example of the selfless nature that personified mcd.

Wow, remarkable story about your friend. Yeah, in around 2010 I had reached the end of my tether with telkom and McD helped me out in a massive way there so although I never met him I'll always remember that.

Indeed. There are a few mybb members in PE though ... and you might actually have mybb peeps in Joburg or other areas that would be willing to fly down to attend ... but for me a funaral is a very personal and private thing for close family and friends .... but people differ on this. That is just me personally.

True

Rather send flowers etc.

It is with great sadness that we share with you that MickeyD (Lawrence Muller) has passed away.

He was a core part of the MyBroadband community, and everyone who met him agreed that he was an awesome person.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Any details?
