Microsoft and piracy in SA

Since I've been running legal Windows (with full updates) for the last 5years I've never re-installed my XP (5 years running this month) or Win7 on my 3 laptops as none of them have experienced performance degradation that I was unable to reverse or resolve with updates.

I use to find that I was always limited to what patches I could apply to my pirated XP years ago. I also find my friends with pirated Win7 are the ones always complaining about performance and stability.

Dude, windows 7 is so well pirated it runs as well as a legit copy. With a loader you have legit windows that can get updates and so on. I even run microsoft's virus program and it validates.

I ran legal windows xp and the it slowed down and degraded. I run pirated windows 7 and there is no performance issues. Actually i don't know anyone who has complained of windows 7 slowing down over time. Perhaps it is a 32 bit thing or something but most peeps i know run 64 bit.

There is no difference between pirated windows 7 and legal.

Leaving aside the aspect of counterfeiting and selling Microsoft products for a profit I have no issue with the home user using using pirated products - hell M$ actively encourages it with their useless "Starter", "Basic" and "x day trial software" versions that computers come pre-installed with these days. You wouldn't buy a new car on the understanding that that model cannot go uphill but only runs downhill or on the flat plus the lights stop working after 60 days ...

BUT - and it's a big BUT

... if you are using Microsoft products in the course of earning your daily bread as an author, programmer, support person or whatever there is no excuse for not using legal M$ products. If you choose to play in their world you must pay the entry fee - even if you consider it overpriced.

@MickZA--that is a bit tricky. How would on separate out Home use that does not generate income/profit these days; most of what needs to be done on PC is in some way associated with income generation. But, I agree with your point entirely.
