Microsoft beats Apple in tablet sales

Where can you buy a surface tablet in South Africa?

Currently they are only imported...

But Takealot and Orange have them listed and will do the importing etc for you. I am just not entirely sure about the warranty aspect since its not sourced from MS SA.

It was a matter of time. The Surface is the de-facto choice for business.

At R30k (give or take) it is hardly the de facto choice for business.

**EDIT**

I see they aren't quite so bad (at least for the Pro 3) on Takealot.. but still R15k for an i3, or R21k for an i5 hardly make them de facto choices for business.

Sales always jump when new model is coming out. It doesn't say it will be sustained for that prices. Microsoft must fix Windows 10 first and get mannufacturers support, it seems to be on the hard track.

I'm having a hard time believing this, someone is doctoring sales reports

You may have a hard time believing it, but its true...

In Online Sales the Surface smashed the iPad...

Even it is true, does it make a change? One month sales after release doesn't make a trend. Typical Microsoft propaganda.

Given that the surface is a completely different beast to all apple and android tablets... no not really.

So you agree that is not about beating Apple as article suggests? :)

Month old sales boost after new product release do not count for the trend.

Typical Microsoft propaganda.
Check your facts. This had nothing to do with Microsoft. They don't release Surface sales figures, so your blaming Msft is pure prejudice on your part.

I don't believe these reports for one second, and neither does Paul Thurrott:

Paul Thurrott said:
According to WinBeta, which inexplicably received an early version of a report I’ve never heard of—1010data Facts for Ecom Insights, January 2014 – October 2015—written by an analyst firm I’ve never heard of, makes the following wild claim: Microsoft’s Surface allegedly outsold Apple’s iPad in October. Well, when you look at online sales anyway. And just in the U.S.

In other words, Surface did not outsell iPad in October.

Sorry, guys.

Since no one except WinBeta seems to have this mythical report, I can only go by what they quote.

By the way, I bought a Surface Pro 4 last week, so my own machine is in the (unbelievable) sales figures. ;)

It's a glorious machine. Fast, thin. Gorgeous screen. Windows Hello login is flippin amazing, and fast. Even in the dark.
