You'd know all the details of the person you're meeting for a business deal, for example. Microsoft is vowing to maintain LinkedIn's independence, including the role of CEO Jeff Weiner, and hopes to close the deal sometime in 2016.

I hate LinkedIn. It's always notifying me of people I don't know wanting to add me.
Problem is there is no way to decline the invite, except to just delete the notification email - but the invite remains on your account until you go in and remove them.

Microsoft to acquire LinkedIn

Microsoft and LinkedIn Corporation on Monday announced they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Microsoft will acquire LinkedIn for $196 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at $26.2 billion, inclusive of LinkedIn’s net cash. LinkedIn will retain its distinct brand, culture and independence. Jeff Weiner will remain CEO of LinkedIn, reporting to Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. Reid Hoffman, chairman of the board, co-founder and controlling shareholder of LinkedIn, and Weiner both fully support this transaction. The transaction is expected to close this calendar year.

MS are known for buying companies and killing them / writing down the investment, Someone need to check their past buys and list success and failures.

Last week somebody bought 155 $150 Call Options expiring 17 June. Total cost was $310. Price now $195. I will post a screenshot of his profit in 15 minutes..

That is a lot of money for a social network...

LinkedIn also has paid-for services which they religiously and repetitively try to flog. So-called premium experience. I have yet to see the need for anything beyond that which is free. Perhaps for employment agencies?
