Microsoft on Monday sent out invitations to a September 30 event at which it is expected to provide a glimpse at the next version of its Windows operating system

Pricing hasn't been decided. There's much speculation that it'll be really cheap or even free for current Win8 users.

As far as I know it's a very limited event of about 50 journalists, with no streaming. Paul Thurrott and Mary Jo Foley are doing a podcast with TWiT immediately afterwards. They're not fanbois (were persona non grata at MSFT for years) and perhaps the most knowledgeable Microsoft-watchers around.
