I know at least one leading Tokyo cosmetics and pharma company which runs 2K on all their machines - that's an example - I do not know if they have proprietary software but apparently everything works well enough and they're happy - they don't see a need to upgrade. In fact every other company I have friends or relatives working at, uses XP or 2K. Some use proprietary software but others don't. They're happy with XP/2K as is. These are multinational companies - one is French based and is a leading ISO certification company across the globe.

Quite so. Most people don't understand that businesses don't buy operating systems unless they are in the IT business. They buy solutions.

Further, even when is no apparent reason for waiting, if you have 100+ desktops spread all over the place, you don't want to risk the business on a new OS, no matter what OS it is.

Before upgrading an enterprise company will go through many levels of QA to ensure that all its systems operate without compromise before starting a roll-out. This type of testing can take years to complete as it will not be at the top of the agenda.

Actually I don't know why I waste my time replying to the same rude, uncultured, uneducated, people who resort to ad hominem attacks and completely ignore facts. I have no time for you, kindly do not refer to me on this forum again. I will render you the same courtesy.

Are you talking about all the facts you presented and laid down so we can see it for ourselves? NO! all you ever post is the same repeated FUD, Anti Microsoft and Sony comments and personal opinions, over and over again. It's all your own opinions that very few share with you and you always refer to all the international companies but never give details. You are an excruciating OSX/Mac fanboi with a keen eye for japanese porn and YOU DRIVE IT DOWN OUR THROATS.

Now relax get some coffee and get a life, then move to Japan.
Peace and love for you Peter. I pray daily when I think of you.

It also only works with CPUs which support Virtualisation ONLY and does not work well for all apps and ... it adds an extra HAL on top of the already bloated OS - to do the same thing, but with more eye candy and other rubbish.

Did YOU ever install and ran Win7? I doubt. Did you test XP on WVPC? NO, but you are the everlasting exspert on everything you considers anti in your mind.

This is the most correct and sensible post here today. Concrats. I am surprised at the speed many smaller companies adaps Windows seven. That indicates or tell me that in this cycle many companies will have a quicker adoption rate than ever before and that is just because Win7 is such a good performer.

Well whatever those anime kama sutra and other FUD he brings up in every other second post of his. I do not know what it is, he is mad about it :D

Needing a CPU that supports VT = True. Adding another HAL like most virtual machines = True. Blatantly lying about it being a bloated OS and including other "rubbish" = False.

The same international companies I have relatives and friends working for - in France, US, Singapore and Japan are still using XP or 2K. These people actually use their software to make MONEY and WORK on their PCs not sit around all day and post about how cute Aero looks or how nice their new OS is. People who do serious things on their machines actually don't upgrade unnecessarily unless forced by clueless procurement people or by misinformation or there really is a genuine reason.

Ok, that's nice that they use 2k and XP can't see what's wrong there. Never said anyone needed to upgrade, just asking why one needed to downgrade. Aero is not a necessity, and Windows 7 will provide better support for the future. You can't tell me that you are still rolling on Mac OS X 10.2, is that an OS for serious people? Now seriously what is "serious things" supposed to mean?

Voted by the same fanbois maybe who use their PCs to play games and ooh and aahh over the eye candy. Dude, if you are seriously pushing enterprise users to upgrade to Vista/7 over XP, and you are in IT, please tell me which company you work for so that I can tell everyone I know to avoid them.
Did I ever push enterprise users? No. Is XP and in outdated OS that needed an upgrade? Yes. Will most enterprise users move to 7 this year? Unfortunately yes but at a very slow rate becuase XP has stayed in the market for way too long and the result of the Vista screw up. 7 is basically hope to all of us that have had to stay with the ageing OS being XP.

Secondly GROW up, no-one has insulted you, reverting to personal attacks is only a sign of an immature, insecure personality. You can't defend with facts, you attack another person and call him a 'troll'. You don't even know what the word troll means...
Nobody has insulted me because I haven't just posted lies.

LOL - I've used your Win 7 and Vista. Both are junk. Make good h/w run slowly, have incompatibility issues and have introduced stupid eye-candy. Not to mention, the fact that, the new Dock like taskbar is bad because the names are missing and you don't know what you're running.

But you have to admit that you are a troll at times.

I think the term "It takes one to know one" comes to play, as you continue to just do the same thing persistently in an indirect manner.

Let me point back to the previous debate we had.

This debate happens every time a new version of Windows is released. Until about 2005, there were people saying that XP was just eye candy and fluff, and that 98 was good enough for them.

+1.
