I own a business and I won't be rushing but also won't be dragging my feet.
Our back office staff like their predictable w7, office 2010 interface.
My instinct is to roll out the new office and w8 at the same time so we have one pain point rather than 2.
Once we get the staff past the pain point they speak as though the new environment is the best thing ever.

Lol! Good idea this one pain point thing! Just make sure to stock up on your tranquillisers in case of emergency! :D
 
I've just installed 8 Pro x64 with Media Centre ( upgraded from Win7 )

Once I'd figured out a few basics either I have a lot of customising to do or I'm just not getting it.

I click the corner, select Start, click the Desktop tile... and I'm back in what looks exactly like Win 7 ( which is not a problem because I at least know my way around.)

But there has to be more to Win 8 than a new façade behind which is good old Win 7 ?

I was really impressed with Win8 so I popped it straight onto my SSD replacing win7, I didn't have to re-install any of my programs and I haven't tested them all out bu tit look slike they work... really impressed and I'm loving the new UI.

The only thing that really upset me about windows 8 was finding out there was a Steve Balmer app on the store, educating the audience about how much he loves him self im sure :sick:
 
Two questions:

1. If I buy the physical upgrade media will I be able to do a clean install on a new drive?

2. Will I be able to upgrade Win XP 32bit to a 64bit OS? I'm sure I recall hearing that you can only upgrade 32bit to 32bit and 64bit to 64bit.

1 - Apparently iy is possible, there's aother thread here somewhere where someone explains how (if I was on my PC I'd paste you a link).

2 - No. Not possible. But maybe if you can do a clean install....who knows. Try it and let us know:)

+1 my wife also loves it. I cant say that I like it at the moment but will force myself to use it and learn it...
