Microsoft Office bug opens a CMD window then quickly closes it

A Microsoft Office bug is resulting in the “OfficeBackgroundTaskHandlerRegistration” task running every hour, which is frustrating users.

Exactly the same here. It started recently, so I assume it is the MS Office bug.

I assume it's only in the latest Office suite, although that wasn't specified. I thought it would affect those of us with any product that is still under the support lifecycle.

Which office do you use? I had the tasks in Office 365 (version 1704).

Not sure why they have insider versions when the final build still comes with bugs like this. M$ at it's best.

So thats what that is, I thought I had a virus. It keeps causing any game I'm playing to minimise when it runs.

I have it happening on three machines, and none of them have the above tasks scheduled...

Close Microsoft Office click-to-run service in your Service Manager. It will reopen after a minute or so, so close it again. Works for me so far.
