Microsoft SQL Server 2008 goes live

I reckon I'll stick to MySQL thank you. But my experience with SQL Server 2005 wasn't bad though...

This is great news.....

Really been looking forward to some of the enhancements.
I'll have to get it off MSDN tonight :)

MySQL is fine for websites and such, but it really isn't suitable for enterprise applications.

SQL Server 2005 is actually an excellent product. What problems did you experience?

Problems? I had general problems that most people experienced. But frankly I enjoyed it. I just prefer the *nix side of life.

Unfortunately I cannot access the TechNet subscriber downloads - the login page redirects in a loop.

Just need some time to play with SQL 2008....

Must say that Microsoft SQL Server is way ahead of the competition.... I will never ever consider another database platform. (not even sure if one can call mysql a database)

In what way?

Minor I know but to start with you don't need to find a third party app to have a gui frontend on your db like you do with MySQL. MySQL sucks alltogether. I've never in my entire life had a more difficult installation for a db.

Postgre is nice but if im doing anything thats large corporate or higher theres no way im doing it on anything other than MS SQL. 2k8 should be good. I've been playing with a beta for a while now and it has some interesting features.

And before anyone starts i am NOT an MS fanboi. Hate them, they just make a good db product so deal with it.

MySQL's marketshare is unfortunate. I try to avoid it at all costs.

Why? Other than a GUI what advantage does it have over PostgreSQL?

But you haven't really said why other than a GUI .

And I use all components of SQL - SSIS/SSAS/SSRS...
