Microsoft Surface beats iPad display quality

I really like the surface. Waiting for the intel powered one though. If claims are right and it can run photoshop, I'm sold. I really hope they use an i5 or something. I hate the atom range.

Well they would say that wouldn't they now.

On the other hand, the iPad3 can be quite reflective which decreases visibility quite badly outdoors. It's still the most beautiful screen I've ever looked at though so MS is going to have to put up or shut up on this one.

what does a superior screen help if your software crashes all the time?

I also thought as much after reading the headline but after reading the article itself I sort of think they have a point.

The reason is cleartype, now why I say this is because when reading specs of the nokia lumia 800 i thought wait it should be quite crappy with that resolution on a screen a bit larger than that of the 4s but when I got my lumia it was actually very very crisp, even more crisp than the screen on my samsung omnia 7,not as crisp as the 4s though.

I was surprised and quite enjoyed the screen,it really was easy to read on it.

I doubt the surface screen overall will beat the ipad 3 screen but maybe the difference wont be as big as conventional thinking would lead us to believe taking only resolution into account.Same as a good 5mp cam can match an average 8mp one it isn't always about sheer resolution.

When last did you use Windows?

I've had Windows 7 since release date and has never had a blue screen.

If you install ****ty apps... yes, it will crash, if that is what you meant.

I really cant wait for surface, the use cases for it in a working environment are incredible

The ipad is a toy for kids to watch movies on.. Surface will be a multifunction beast

In the looks department iPad wins tho. I somehow suspect the Surface will be a good alternative, if the price is not prohibitive of course.

Yeah I'm sure it's a nice screen, with good contrast and cleartype, should be quite good.. But trying to say it's sharper than the iPad which has a 2048x1536 rez, whilst the Surface RT is 1336x768 is flat out spin from MS. Nice try!

Rather try sell us on the multitasking, integrated stand, keyboard, whatever.

Would love to have one for evaluation purposes.

Already have an iPad and android fondleslab, so I'll be able to compare the three ;)

So buying me a Surface Pro...

Think they are going to annihilate in the Enterprise market...... iPad will start falling by the wayside.

It's nice that the surface has got a better screen than the iPad 3. What processor and RAM does it have?

The real question is, can the Microsoft Surface Tablet sell more than the iPad 3?

Thats the thing, it doesn't have a better screen than the iPad from a resolution perspective.

RAM and Processor for the ARM version is as follows :

Tegra T30 with 2GB of RAM.

RAM and processor for the Pro version is up for debate, but it will be an x86 processor so something like and i5 is my guess.

I think Surface is a much nicer looking device than iPad actually. Love it with the coloured cases. The real challenge MS has right now, and frankly it's an inexcusably ballsed up mess of a situation, is their failure to educate consumers on the difference between WinRT and Windows8. So you're buying a $600 Surface tablet on the day Windows8 gets released and it has Office2013 built in which is great but then you discover when you get home that it can't run native Windows desktop applications, and you're basically limited to the Windows Store Metro apps of which there are about 5,000. They've done nothing to ameliorate this problem before launch and if you think Mapsgate is a biggie wait till the laypeople come to terms with this doozy.
