This is the funniest thing I've read in ages. Suck it up MS.

Could they ship it with Chrome if they wanted or are there licence issues etc?

Google should tell them to suck it and demand a charge per pre-install ed instance ;-)

Is Chromium not open source?

Yes :-)

Chromium is an open-source Web browser project started by Google, to provide the source code for the proprietary Google Chrome browser.
The two browsers share the majority of code and features, though there are some minor differences in features and logos, and they have different licensing.

So this is the latest browser offering from Microsoft that we will only ever use once to install Firefox with.

MS is making its best decision here, Edge is fragmented across different ecosystems. The Android Edge app is already based on Chromium, Blink, and their iOS Edge app is based on WebKit. Blink for unifying their platforms is the best direction for standardisation.

Good job keeping it real and cutting your losses flogging a dead horse Microsoft.

Now we can move on and have a better experience overall.

More so for no longer getting the marketing push to install Edge the whole time.
