Microsoft's major threats

In all honesty... I think Microsoft are right on target...

Google and the whole cloud computing and virtualisation is precisely where their biggest threat comes from. MS has applications for these arena's but they aren't best of breed just yet, but I'm damn sure they will be very shortly.

"We don't read your email and invade your privacy. We're not snooping your WiFi. That's not what we're about. We don't have a mission statement that reminds us not to do evil,"

Oh.. so rubbing off your ****ty software on some 3rd world country for big $$$ when you full well know there is a free alternative isn't evil? Thats just business right? Well.. tell you what Microsoft, me, and everyone else like me are watching you burn. Kin? BURN. Windows Vista? BURN. Office? BURN. Anything else... oh.. ya.. you make a games console thats pretty good. Maybe you should go sell some XBoxes to hungry Somalians. Yes.. thats it you ****ing twats... go sell some of your **** to people who cannot afford it... oh wait... you already are... and when your finished... hand out little shiny certificates to everyone so you can all butt**** together.

Microsoft is dying a slow, uninformed, bureaucratic death, and there is not much they can do about it, besides firing the head twat and start over.

AAAAAWWW... left hook with the Excel. yes Indeed! And to add... they have finally hooked up their little thingy to the cloud. So i cannot argue the redundancy point either. Although there are many (free) alternatives just as powerful.

M$ blah blah blah, this sounds sensationalized. M$ is finally having to compete on different levels and that scares the monopoly.

this just shows how out of touch they are. or am i laughing out of ignorance because there's no mention of apple.
sorry ms, but taking sucker punches at the competition can't cover up your lack of strategy and lacklustre mobile offering.
how does this guy think apple suddenly overtook everybody? has anybody told him yet?

Say what you want....Windows 7 is the best thing since sliced bread!

As for windows mobile....bleh...androids kicks ass...

I personally am not one to be loyal to any software vendor. I use what I think is the best at the time.
So far I have jumped ship from Borland to Microsoft. Jumped from MS Exchange to Google Apps. Whichever direction that has greener grass.
I recently got my Office 2010 dics from MS and promptly upgraded. I think hooked into Skydrive (competitor to Google Docs) and was blown away. Until now I have been using Google Docs over MS Office 2007 but that has changed again. Skydrive is hot. Damned hot! It has a crap load more power than Google Docs. So off I go again - jumping ship.

People that tend to be loyal to a supplier camp are doing themselves an injustice. Use what is the best regardless of who made it. Your life gets better :)

@mike
point taken.
love google apps.
agree, skydrive is great. do you have the explorer plugin?

i do however believe that you're not indicative of the average corporate user, who is generally locked in to ms products and doesn't have as much freedom to pick and choose.

You are correct. I work for myself which gives me the freedom to use whichever tool I feel like.
Thanks for the Skydrive explorer link. This is a VERY valuable tool MurrayBiscuit. Much appreciated man!

Microsoft SA is not very bright either - they have no idea where their virtualisation strategy is going. With VMware once again beating forecasts in their Q2 results, surely MS should start thinking about virtualisation a little more.
