it would appear that internet solutions are pushing this as one of the solutions to communicate with our offsite disaster recovery (site).

we have an office in cape town central, and the offsite is in century city. we would need line-of-sight.

can anyone talk to me about this tech, and what kind of issues they have with it? is it reliable? is it secure?

we havent received a proposal document yet, but Im told that will receive our own "private" frequency.

some help please :)

Depends on the vendor IS are using, there is some really good tech, but you pay through your arse for it.

I also doubt it would be your own "private" frequency....The link would have its own, but they would reuse it elsewhere.

Most important thing with MW though is that the right people set it up, else you will have never ending issues.

Do IS use vendors? Or do they set it up themselves?

Im also wondering about security... is the data encrypted over the wave or what?
 
MW is fantastic, IF setup correctly. Virtually no latency what so ever, and stable as a rock.

Most cellular telecommunication towers use either fiber or microwave for back-haul too.
 
hmmm would appear that 28Ghz is very suceptable to rain fade

I hope IS arent selling this. I mean its about 5km at the absolute MAX... Even that is pushing it! :erm:

Wonder what they gonna propose to get us over the bay? (10km)
 
hmmm would appear that they also considering Neotel Fibre...

not too clued up on how good they are
