I am moving from Afrihost Business Uncapped end of month. Which other ISP's offer the same as what AH Business Uncapped is advertised as - fully unshaped and unthrottled, and won't break the bank?

I use at most 50GB a week, and not more than 12GB a day at the peak of my use, on a 2Mb/s account, but I still enjoy the security of knowing I can download at full speed any time I need it.

Also, streaming is a big priority, so streaming must not be sluggish even though the speedtests and pings show normal results - one of the big reasons I'm moving.

Also, P2P must not be de-prioritised.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hey i see you are from my valley.

I had the Axxess Bussiness 2mbps. Axxess also use MTN now, like Afrihost.
Axxess does close the tap a bit between 8AM and 12PM for P2P.
Other protocols was not shaped throughout the day. Streaming was fine.
I did however notice that with their MTN backbone, international pings are 30ms more on average than Plugg(IS), which is why I moved.

Yeah, it's not perfect for gaming either. I heard Afrihost actually owns part of Axxess now too, so staying far away from there. Do you know if Telkom themselves have a similar product for a similar price? Couldn't find anything, their website is a shambles.

Rather get 100GB capped account.

None. They were selling the service below cost.

Closest is this:

Notice it's the business pro. Normal business won't give you what you're looking for.

IS are probably the best backbone to use for streaming in the country.

You won't find another service that offers the same value for money as Afrihost. Affordable uncapped and unshaped 24/7 is not an industry standard. You sure you can't just wait out the Afrihost issues? I'm with them and things are basically back to normal.

Same issues for months on end twice in one year and you're still with them?

They are lucky they have suckers like you.

Not months on end. It was little over a week. I saw the CW feedback and cancelled my AH cancellation. My internet is running fine now. I'd have no problem cancelling if things stayed bad.

Does anyone know whether WebAfrica offers test accounts on their Business Uncapped? Wanna try them for a bit, see how it goes.

The free home capped account uses the same profile as the Business uncapped.

Wtf? I already replied to his post and said I've had very little grief with AH. I've been with them for years and the percentage of that time that has been trouble free can almost be rounded to 100%.

OK. Time to revive this thread.

So after Afrihost improved their performance, after over a month of struggles, I cancelled my ISP cancellation with them, and gave them another chance.

Since last weekend, I have had a problem with my line keeping disconnecting. Online gaming has been a nightmare, and downloads need to be restarted all the time. This is due to a fault that Telkom seem to be unable to resolve.

Thus, I am pretty much at the end of my tether with having to be dependant on these entities, each trying to be more useless than the other. So, I am asking: is there any option that covers the following conditions?

- Not dependant on Telkom
- Unshaped/Unthrottled
- At least 2Mbps
- Doesn't cost an arm and a leg
- More reliable than 3G

Any options out there like this?

Thanks in advance.

If you're into online gaming then DSL is the only real option. Just move to Web Africa - they seem to be the most reliable ISP.
