Hi Guys
I am in the process of moving over a WordPress site to Afrihost from another hosting provider.
Does anyone know the easiest way of doing this?

I originally planned to copy the entire www folder and make a database backup.

Am i missing anything? Is there an easier/better way?

Thanks!!!!:)

Does the current web host use cPanel? If so, you can do a straight backup/restore.

I moved to elitehost and they moved my sites which includes wordpress with no hassle. Both hosts need cpanel.

If you are on cpanel ask them to do a cpanel to cpanel transfer.

Moving a WP site from host to another is not really that bad, but can be a nightmare if you do not have PHP and MySQL knowledge.

First recommendation is to contact your new hosting provider and ask them if they offer support in transferring a website. Many hosting providers will transfer your website at no costs. If they make use of cPanel, they will simply transfer the site with WHM without lifting a hand. This does not work on all versions of cPanel, but they will be able to assist if their version is compatible with your current version.

Secondly, if you need to transfer it yourself, you can make a backup of your root and MySQL databases. You can upload all files and import the database onto your new server. However, you will need to make some changes to your config settings to reflect your new path and database details.

The only other thing you may need todo, is edit the wp-config.php file and supply the new database name, username and password since this will change on the new host's server
