No Progress on Domain Transfer

Good Day

I was hoping to possibly reach out to any other Afrihost client that may have experienced this or anyone who may have suggestions on how to get it moving along.

I am currently moving my domain from unnamed provider over to my Afrihost account I have had for a few years with all my other products.

I have done many domain transfers over to Afrihost before, however the problem this time is no one seems to be doing anything about the issue we reported. I followed the usual process of purchasing a new shared hosting package and then select "Transfer Domain" when the option comes up, however everytime it gives the error:

"The domain (our .co.za domain) is already registered. Please contact support if you would like to continue with this sign up"


Heres the thing, I own and have owned the domain for years now, so I call and turns out its an incomplete registration from 2011 (was not us) that they apparently forgot to clear it. Anyhow this started the morning of last Thursday, and after numerous communications attempts since Thursday we have not progressed much at all.

They eventually tell me the incomplete registration was cleared and to try again. Once again same error, so they look further into it and tell me, oh it seems they waiting in the DEV team to respond(same reason provided last week for the delay). I have been told the same reasoning a few times now, even though responses to our email ticket vs getting updates from the call center after providing the ticket have given us different reasons as to why its not done yet (very confusing). Now don't get me wrong, I have waited almost a full day before seeking another update upon not receiving one, and know patience is needed, however they seem confused why their own DEV team is taking so long to clear it.

We dont understand why they themselves are even not getting a response from the DEV team, some really nice helpful tech support staff have also expressed their understanding towards this as they themselves do not understand why the DEV team has not responded to them or the request.

I really just would like to get the domain moved over now, I have made sure to keep patience with this, but it feels absurd now without concrete information or feedback. We were hoping it would be done by Friday afternoon last week(transfers have always only taken us 24-48hrs for the actual propagation process, not to wait for it to be actioned) so I could work on resetting up the emails and website to be ready for Monday yesterday to avoid the few possible hours of email interruption during the transfer.

If anyone has advice or suggestion what we can do, request or ask to get this going, please let me know. It would be much appreciated!

Reminder, this post is a request for assistance, not a complaint. While I have had my long list of issues with Afrihost over the years, they are still my preferred provider currently.

Additionally Im aware this may be the incorrect sub-forum, as other posts seem focused on internet, but it seems the most applicable Afrihost spot. Moderators, please move to new forum if this is indeed in the incorrect place, apologies if it was in wrong forum.
