So i'm rather disapointed. I applied for a migration of mymeg 500 to a 2 gig advanced bundle on the 19th of May 2009. I called them again, after no reply, on the 29th. Today (30th) I recieved a call in regards to my application.....and it was declined because of my Profile. Now I suppose this is all acceptable and understandible. Thing is I got an over 20% Salary increase the begining of this year so there shouldn't be a problem realy. But there is apparently no way to apply for it. Still that wouldn't be Vodacom's problem I suppose. Been on the line with all the different services and Customer Care guys, and they where mostly friendly even though a dead end. Since I got the account I've bought on average 1 gig amonth extra (this month over 5) in Ad Hoc's. Suppose it's better for Vodacom to charge me more for the Data, than give me an account that actually suits me. The whole idea of the Credit Act is a major fail in my oppinion as it's costing me more at the moment, than it would with the better account.

Just ranting a bit

Hello Pieter. With VSP, when you apply for a new contract the credit vetting system will rate you. This is done by taking the information provided by you on your application...age, salary...do you own property or not etc...and also it checks your credit profile on ITC. If you do not have a high enough score, the system automatically limits you to a certain profile of packages. Once you have built up a good credit history with VSP and there have been no returned debit orders etc, then they should allow you to migrate to a higher package. It is either after 1 year or the full 2 year contract. This is however up to VSP discretion etc. In the meantime, perhaps add on a additional bundle that will bring your total up to the 1 or 2 gig that you would prefer? The above is done for a good reason in that it helps prevent defaulting accounts etc. But I also do understand that it can be frustrating for you as a client. I would be interested to know how long you have had this contract etc. Perhaps I can assist. If you wish PM me the 3G cell number and I will have a look from my side to see if there is anything I can do to assist you.

Just go prepaid, there's no real benefit being on contract anyhow, unless you're getting something for free.Migration generally means you don't get anything, so it's probably not worth it anyhow. Obviously it's not automatic , but it's pretty convenient to charge+load bundles via the web these days.

Plus on prepaid you have full control. No shocking bills...

Not officially Peder. I work for a Vodacom Dealer and if I can be of assistance in some cases or perhaps shed a bit of light on some questions on here, then I enjoy being able to help. Officially no, not a Vodacom representative, but try and help where I can.

Yea agree - I have a Talk 240, Phone Insurance, 500 SMS bundle, 2GB (expired) and 500MB data bundle. Due to going over limits on SMSs, OOB data on my phone and over on the 500MB data contract. I'd pay on average R2300.00 - and R2700.00 this month :(

Last month I consolated and fixed my accounts to make my bill R1600.00pm by getting a DataSIM (no OOB rates on my phone nor subsiding a modem!), cancelling my insurance (don't need it after a year anyway) and upping my data bundle to 1000 SMS.

I'm saving almost R1000.00pm now
