Minimum wage rises by 8.5%

I get where you're coming from but in this instance there are real world effects from raising the minimum wage.

The word play may make some think about these consequences in a different light.

Oh I’m not debating that it has real world effects.

But the unemployed and the minimum wage really have nothing to do with each other.

In SA the above inflation increase to the MW will add to unemployment.

Which, I think, is the goal...

Let’s leave it at that then, my brain is too disengaged on this Saturday afternoon to make a reasonable argument.
Everything is intertwined. Labor laws (minumum wage/hiring/firing etc) all have an effect on the labor market.

Did anyone pick up the hypocracy of the state, via SASSA, paying below minimum wage....

Hang-on.

Being forced to pay more than the person is worth on the market somehow makes it easier to employ them?

How so?
You read not.

Labour laws is what prevents people from wanting to deal with domestics.

Here beginith the typical mybb conversation...

lexity: MW makes it harder for lower-skilled people to find work.

redviking: MW makes it easier to employ the low-skilled.

lexity: forcing employers to pay more than the worker is worth, makes it easier to hire them? How?

redviking: Clearly you don't read much. MW makes it harder for lower-skilled people to find work.

:whistling:

Oh no. You have lost it (more).

At least rv is trying to add some humour

Don’t agree, I pay mine far more than minimum wage because doing that would be criminal.

However labour laws around UIF which simply doesn’t work is stopping me from being fully compliant as much as I’ve tried.

So I give her more than UIF and the labour laws combined ever would.

I don't know a single person who only pays minimum wage. However, I know many who do not want to deal with the labour laws.

Lexity, however, who is slightly drunk this morning, is probably refering to large companies.

Large companies entirely different story and generally seem to get things done.

As a solo employer I’ve now got a R5000+ surprise UIF fine for a process that I was never made aware of was ever completed for someone who left my employee last year November.

For months on end tried to get confirmation she was registered and got nothing whatsoever back.

Which means for the next one I’m not making the effort if they can’t get the basics right and I’ll rather just put the money in their pocket.

You've become like the rest of them, dude.
No, take a step back.

I made a comment. You responded (to my comment) with something completely out of context of what I said, probably assuming I have read some other posts of yours and somehow thought my post must have been in context of something you posted somewhere. You then carried on to tag my in other posts completely unrelated to what I posted. You then continued to create a post where I am the main protagonist that had nothing to do with me or what i said.

My only conclusion is that you have done some early morning drinking.
