I've just installed Mint Linux but unfortunately, I'm on local only. Is there a way I can configure it to use local sites as repositories?

AFAIK, being Ubuntu-based, it should detect the local repos and use those by default. This is the way Ubuntu has worked for me since I first installed 7.04. I can switch on my local-only connection and it merrily updates from the ZA repos with no configs on my part

I've had no such luck, even the Ubuntu repos are not local. It tells me it was unable to refresh the package list.

You can just add the local repo manually. I don't think Mint adds it automatically.

The za ubuntu repo site is down at the moment - not working in Mint now doesn't mean it will never work...
