Mirrorless Camera Recommendation

Fuji are really upping their game these days The XT1 and XT10 are superb and the Fuji lenses are in another league compared to Canon/Nikon, enjoy the XT10, great choice.

I just bought their latest, the XF16 1.4. Incredible! 15cm focus distance too. Can't wait to try it with my MCEX-16 16mm extension tube.

I thought I'd give a quick update...

I really like this X-T10! Image quality is excellent and the EVF works much better than I anticipated.
It is quite a joy to shoot with this camera. The only downside is the video capabilities. I don't really use it (and it's not what I bought it for), but more control while recording would have been nice for the odd occasion that I do want to use it.

Here are a few photos I took with it 2 weeks ago while on a business trip (not the most exciting, but I had fun while taking them :P

Now what I need is a longer zoom...
XF 55-200mm
or
XF 18-135mm

I'm getting mixed review as to which one is nicer, but I'm not so sure on using the 55-200 on the X-T10 body as the lens is a bit big.

You did not mention what you intend to use the telephoto lens for. I would recommend that you try out one of those lenses first (rental, or something). A 200mm lens is maybe ok for larger wildlife, but for birds you will need an even longer focal length.

Just ordered it, will be picking it up at the end of the week :) Went with the 18-55.

It's a fantastic lens. Perhaps the best kit lens on the market? Maybe besides Leica etc.

The build quality alone gave me wood. Canon and Nikon have nothing on it.

I've learned so much with my X-T1. Lots of great YouTube vids, blogs, etc. of course.

Really is a brilliant camera, software and system. 10/10.

I have the XF16, XF18-55, XF35, and XF60 Macro. :)

Randhir just curious who you got it through? the best price i have found is orms?

ODP actually has a better price for that exact kit (R13420) which ORMS said they'd match or better, but I'm getting it through Fotofirst in Gateway for R13500, purely for eBucks reasons (online purchases capped to R3000, don't think there's a limit to in-store purchases).

Which kit are you going for?

i am really keen on the XT10 with the 18 - 55mm. i would love to get the XT1 but its a tad out of my price range.

I looked at it, but for me the only real advantage would be the size. Pretty much everything else won't be that relevant to me.

Don't get me wrong though, I considered the X-T1 for a long time. I might look at getting the new version when it comes out.

Also considering going mirrorless. Have already sold my DSLR and lenses. X-T1 does feel a lot better in my hands, coming from a Nikon D90 DSLR. Also, the better weather sealing would be good for a landscape photographer, that likes seascapes and inclement weather conditions. Besides that, they seem pretty much identical in functions and capabilities, except for an extra dial on the X-T1. It is quite a premium to pay for those advantages, but I might just do it. Wish the next model would be announced already!

What are you using now?

I can't give up my DSLRs yet, but I'm seeing more and more pro photogs going the mirrorless way. If I enjoy the X-T10 and the new X-series is full-frame, I'll probably end up selling my current stuff and moving over completely.

Yeah, my first choice was definitely the X-T1, especially considering how good Fuji are with updating the software. The fact that it's a couple of years old doesn't even come into discussion considering the updates. Went with the X-T10 due to budget. It is a sizable price difference without too much disparity in quality, which is awesome.

My M42-X mount adapter will be coming down in a couple of weeks, can't wait :) On the way to pick up the X-T10 now.
