Will then use the cash I saved up to actually buy the camera to get the 35mm prime and spare battery perhaps.
Check the current claim backs. Should come with a half case and a spare battery.

Not seeing any promos at the moment. But it is not bothering me too much. I knew I risked the chance of losing out when I did not buy in December.
Technically only paying R3900 for the kit as I am using R10'000 in vouchers for the rest. So do have the spare cash (saved up for F2.8 kit + 35mm prime) lying around for extras. Actually thinking about getting the EF20 flash too. Never been a fan of these miniature pop-up flashes.
Can't even find any of those on the online storeDid you get it in-store?
It is not listed or stocked by them.
I managed to negotiate with online support and the buyer to order it for me.
Good negotiation skills !

They ought to start selling them!
I mentioned it to the buyer when we exchanged emails.
Think they will really consider it. Can't recall seeing any mirrorless options in store or online.
I'm thinking about winging it with the kit lens for 2 or 3 months until I have enough ebucks for another Makro voucher. Then ask them to order me either the 35mm F2 or the F1.4. They were really keen to help the first time and ebucks paying for a hobby is nicer than forking out the cash. Especially with food prices about to kill us in the next few months.
Some food for thought. Here is the National Geographic list of the top ten compact cameras for travel photography:
http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/travel/top-10-compact-travel-cameras/
These are almost entirely mirrorless types.
Pro Tip: Because the autofocus was slow in comparison to other mirrorless cameras, the original version of this camera, the M1, was not a good seller. They are still available for less than $300. That’s a lot of camera for the money. Video shooters are scooping up older versions for use as second cameras to add another point of view to their productions.
I'm so conflicted about buying a mirrorless setup currently, my argument is that if I'm going to spend +-R30k (X-T1 with a decent lens for Astro/Landscape) on a setup then I might as well get a 2nd hand FF Canon DSLR and build on something that will (arguably) provide me with better results - at the cost of slightly bulkier load. :erm:
Such a 1st World problem though.

Some info for the Astro bit:
