If one looks at the front page of the axxess.co.za web site - right a the top is a network status message. At present it suggests "All systems are fully functional. There are no active alerts. "
However - as with many of their competitors that make use of IS - there is a significant latency issue that is rendering some services, in particular secure sites, unusable. They time out.
The response received from Axxess was:
"The network status refers to the physical network, indicating when there are cable breaks, exchanges down etc"
I believe the ISP should be honest enough to post this is an alert - as clearly their network is not fully functional. A reasonable man, would expect that any widespread issue affecting a significant part of their user base - should be flagged as an alert.
Axxess are not alone in this practice - checking many of the other providers that use IS - also no mention is made regarding this widespread issue.
