My name is of arabic origin and 95% of people get it wrong for the first 20 times or forever(possibly myself included :D)
It used to really irritate me in my childhood but now I just shrug it off when Its people I know well enough

Does it bother you if people mispronounce your name(your real one:p)?

To me a name is just an identifier for an object/thing they still mean me.
Unless they`re delibrately doing it to piss me off in which case I ignore them.

I also have a 4 letter nickname that everybody likes to use...

Some people call me dick, which is a helluva mispronunciation. My name's not even Richard...

Some of the gems I get are Craig, Graig and then something that sounds like Kreg.

I actually think its shows disrespect if they cannot even be bothered to learn your name properly ...
I have some people that insist on spelling my name differently, even though it is written correctly in emails and the email address .. go figure

Perhaps it's a conscious religious decision on their part?

I know that feeling. What makes it worse is a repeat offender within the same email conversation...

My name is spelt wrong often because my parents burdened me with a somewhat novel variation, and it's pronounced radically differently depending on whether people are attempting an Afrikaans or English articulation. I no longer give a toss; I had my fill of correcting people about 15 years ago.

I have a very common name, so no issues in that regard directed at me.

However, I have what borders on a phobia about getting people's names wrong.

used to Annoy me to no end at work when people mispronounce my name, worse of all is they spell it wrong on email when its right there on my email address and signature :wtf: , at least the people that work closely with me get it right

My surname is always pronounced wrong so I end up spelling it instead of pronouncing it at doctor and other places when an appointment has been made....

Else they will never find the booking.

everybody gets my name wrong in SA, and the reason why it pisses me off is because it's the name one of the most famous musicians of all times, everybody should know him. So it says a lot about the person not knowing this name. annoying nonetheless.

Is that why you have remained Anony-mousse? :p

My name and surname are pronounced and spelled wrong all the time. It doesn't irritate me too much but what irritates me is when people shorten my name to the nickname version as I really hate that.
