Missing SAPO Parcels and Letters

Sorry for the necro, but 4 items in the last 2 months. All tracked to "customs" then they disappear... no answer from SAPo and when phoneing (after 4 hours on hold) get told "good luck, we take what we want!"

got a recording of that?

Was lucky this once.

Last year purchased some popcorn sprinkles. Had an issue with these, was totally bland.

Wrote to the producer and got told they will send us a replacement mahala.

This was in November.

Yesterday I contacted the lady and asked her what's up. She informed us that they indeed did send the parcel, but we havent got the slip from the GPO, but she gave us the tracking number.

Wife went to the post office, collected the parcel. There was signs it had been opened, so I verified the contents with the lady, all was in order.

I think they deliberately doesnt send out the tracking slips so that they can keep the parcels and then check these for valuable things.
Surely there is a time limit on how long parcels can be kept at the GPO?

I am not impressed. Will be using a courier rather.

GPO enployees are only digging their own graves.

I ordered a parcel in early Nov from China. Arrived later Dec, all in order

Missing SAPO Parcels

If you have had parcels or mail go missing in recent months, please email

During the past 7 months I have 11 parcels go missing, in fact I have not received any of my parcels I ordered from overseas. These were all from the Mayville post office. I have not been able to track them as they do not have a South African tracking number.

There seems to be nothing I can do about this. I did not receive a blue slip for any of these parcels.

Been waiting for a few packages from China.

One was received in South Africa on the 30th of September. It does not have an SA tracking number yet, so expect that to be stolen. The other packages were received about 10 days ago, no tracking details in SA yet. Not even on their system. So this country is fast becoming a criminal heaven and turning into a shyte hole.

Reviving a dead thread... Few packages missing from China. Asked assistance from seller, got told they cannot help 'cause it's past three months? Been to the post office every 2 weeks a month after ordering- "Not in the system".
Went to JIMC, got told the same thing: 'Can't find it in the system'. Only have international tracking.
Anyone managed to go further?

Apart from trying to contact SAPO on the social network sites and maybe via email (you're never guaranteed a reply, though), not much else you can do.

I've had parcels do a vanishing trick even after they've been captured in the system. Sometimes between the mail hub and the PO.

1. Try the post office app - you can put in the international tracking number, it'll return the tracking information with local tracking number if found.
2. Do a charge back with your credit card company - they have cover up to six months.

Thank you! Did not know that. Will report back.
