Most south africans can not afford a sms. I do not see mms overtaking sms, though it might be interesting to see where this goes.
Can we send MMS's to overseas subscribers?
I'm able to make international calls however mms'ing still eludes me - probably because of the premiums they are able to charge for international sms'es.While they block me from sending MMS internationally [falling under the same roaming requirements needed to make an international phone call] and not SMS, no it won't win .
I actually wanted to send a voice MMS to someone in the UK...blocked!!
I had to resort to SMS and emailed the voice file...so screw MMS.

With the EXACT amount of "button presses" as MMS i could email a text+voice clip from my phone. So i still believe MMS is going to be squashed by Internet-type services before it gets going [especially if we are getting new phones every 2 years]
As MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) starts to gain momentum in the market, one has to wonder whether it will overtake SMS as the dominant messaging tool for cellphone users.
So what’s going to change things? Well according to Eddie Groenewald, CEO of Multimedia Solutions ( www.multimediasolutions.co.za ), MMS advertising will. Multimedia Solutions is the first company in South Africa to overcome the challenges of bulk MMS.
