Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane has decided to resign as federal leader of the DA, several well-placed sources in the party have confirmed to News24.

Maimane is expected to hold a press conference on Wednesday afternoon at 15:00.

I can actually see the EFF becoming the official opposition quite soon with all the bungling and own goals within the DA

If only they weren't scoring own goals as well, SA politics can be so hopeless at times, in an ideal world Lekota and Cope were supposed to be the one benefiting from this but they also don't know whether they are coming or going.

2021 is around the corner, we will soon see if it's indeed good news or it was a bad omen.
Did you see the latest by-elections results, it was absolutely shocking. They can only improve from here. Yes, it is going to take a while for the DA to recover, but at least this is a beginning.

Good, maybe the DA can finally stop pandering to SJW.
What does that mean?

The DA may have done well in delivering services to urban areas in the WC but they are still failing to come to terms with how to deal with the poor. It's probably too complex a problem but if they ever hope to rule the country they need to find a way to solve that problem.

DA needs to sort its **** out.
Less liberal BS, more conservatism, and an actual plan.

I can see H.v.Zille at least pushing things forward. Shame about Mashaba, I thought he would have made a good opposition leader.
Most common mistake people make, he was a good administrator, that does not necessarily translate into a good politician, have you ever listened to him speaking, he is a terrible public speaker.

Maimane pushed a lot of whatever flavor of the month argument was going on Twitter, so that's what got pushed by DA.

He tries too hard, saw himself as the Obama of Soweto... He isn't! He is just a Pastor...and the DA turned him into pasta...
