On a serious note, gonna buy a couple Telkom sims today and try again with the different tariffs. Everyone praises Rain but I don't want another contract to be honest, just prepaid night bundles, is that too much to ask?

No contract with rain. Month to month. Uncapped R250 in advance. Other usage in arrears.

I don’t gamble, and when I tried to gamble at the Mo’Nice table they never dealt me any cards. R250 for 19 hours, not 7 and then a smaller bundle for the other 5 hours cut my total data costs

Did exactly that. Bought three sims today, one on the default tariff and the other two on prepaid wireless. Not a single one gave me the 5gig midnight bundle, let alone the 450gig

Why do these friggen deals only last like 5 days or 7 days usually? High data for a short period of time.

Why can't they have a 5GB for 21 days option?

Random, most of mine are 14 and 30 days.
Shorter bundles also make it more likely you won't be able to use all the data.

So I've tried 3 new Telkom sims, had each one changed to the different tariffs ie. More, Sim Sonke and SmartBB Prepaid, all menu options were the same unfortunately and no night surfer deals AT ALL:

The inference should be that the coverage map is not accurate
Perhaps take an LTE enabled phone / SIM and look at the screen/option showing available networks where you intend to use a network...

At least they acknowledge it. The others (Rain not included, a bit too niche for my liking) don't give a bleep about big time night data on prepaid. Still a good deal there.

It makes perfect business sense in adding it permanently(new customers) but the random luck of the draw menus is still their choice, non sensical!
