Hi,

Need some help on something that seemed rather trivial... but oh well, there is always a little obstacle in the world of IT

I grew tired of this stupid 8ta connect broadband manager application.
I downloaded Hauwei Mobile Partner, it looks a mooooooeeeeerse better...
Anyway, after a clean install of Windows 10 I installed the Mobile Partner, inserted my Hauwei e173 dongle through the crappy 8ta branded dongle.

The problem is that the Hauwei Mobile Partner does not detect the dongle. Can anyone help me with this...prob?

Way back I had a Vodacom brand dongle, bought 8ta sim and replace the software that starts up. I use zte. You need to replace the image that runs at start up.

Best is to google search how to unlock hauwie e173 to all networks.
When you replace the image on the dongle, keep the original as the new image may not have the driver to install the doogle on new pc.

Funny enough, if I install the 8ta app then the mobile partner detects the SIM and dongle.

8ta software came with drivers. You can copy it from "Program Files"\"8ta home - whatever is called"\drivers folder to some other location. Then you can uninstall 8ta sotware. If drivers are uninstalled with software, you can point manually to your new location.

I copied the driver folder to the desktop, ejected the dongle, uninstalled the 8ta app, plugged the dongle back in it detects the dongle and SIM now. Thanks.
