Mobo for media purposes!

Just a quick question, will this mobo be good enough to handle all sorts of media ( talking music, movies, series dvd's etc and not heavy graphocs edited type stuff )

Also will the onboard gfx card be good enough to output to 42" Plasma?
If not then will this be good enough as it is HDCP compliant

The board is EXACTLY what you are looking for. it does 1080i on the HDMI output and has composite output if you have a old Plasma or normal TV. So it will output to a 60" plasma if you like.
It also has onboard SPDIF for digital sound.
best of all, it's cheaper.

which supplier stocks asus products??? I have friend of a friend.. want to see if can get it any cheaper... :D

Which form factor is tha mobo? Can't seem to find it on take2 and it HAS to be microATX.

What do you guys think of the above motherboard with the Athlon64 x2 4000+.

This will be running 1gb ram and Vista Ultimate so that I can make use of Windows Media Center. Connected will be a Win-TV 250 TV Capture card using the YpYbPr and spdif outputs to my AV/receiver.

It should be able to handel live TV as well as HD Video playback correct ?

Experience with Microsoft Windows Media Remote?

Has anyone had any experiences with it? Is it good or not? Are there better remotes out there that can be used with WMCE?

I am using it at the moment for MCE and have been using it now for about three months. I really don't have any complaints, it was very easy to setup and MCE had the DSTV remote listed so you do not have to "teach" the remote to control your DSTV.

The only complaints I have is that it takes little while to change the channel on your DSTV decoder when using the channel up or down button, about 3 to 5 seconds to complete the channel change, as it actually sends the new channel number to the decoder. One warning though I have read that people are having difficulties getting the remote to work with the new PVR decoder.

I have not used any other remotes so I cannot comment on them.

I think you should up the RAM to 2GB. It should only cost about R250 extra and with Vista it makes a world of difference.
 
does this board have TV out???

sapphiron... do we have to have a PVR tuner card to capture programs???
or a normal TV tuner card will do the trick???
