Modem gets very hot

Hello

I have an off topic question. I have the 8ta simcard in my old mtn usb stick. It gets very hot. So hot you can barely touch it. Is this normal? Does it affect the modems performance at all?

It will eventually disconnect if it is too hot, so you don't need to worry if it doesn't. Some new sticks run even hotter.
