Well today is the first time I brought my modem home and was keen to test the system out.
Now although I live only 1 km from a tower, I'm in a bit of a hole so the best signal I could get was 2 orange lights and 3 greenbars on the software.
After much fiddling around, even tried sticking the modem to the ceiling but no improvement.
When logging on (after about 7 tries) I was not very happy as I got disconnected several times.
So I thought bugger this, there has to be a better way, so I got out my ham radio brain, calculated what 2 wavelengths would be and looked for a metal object that I could use as a reflector.
After much searching I found "net die ding vir sonny" a Castle Lager metal tray and placed it 24 cm behind my Modem.... BINGO!
Now my modem stand next to my PC, with the tray stuck behind it on the wall with some prestik, all 4 the orange lights are on and all 5 green bars are lit.
I connect first time, and have been on now for 2 hours and not had one disconnection.
I'm in business [
