Hi
My monitor on win xp pc goes into power save mode yet it shows windows splash screen. Works fine when I opt for safe mode.
Any settings I need to change? Moment I change screen detail then monitor goes blank.

What make/model screen? It could be that you are setting the resolution to something the screen does not support.

Dont think so but its a LG Flatron W1934S.
Have tried putting settings on lowest detail. Recall choosing digital output in an on screen menu but cannot access the menu again.
Can only access control panel settings but then as I said it goes into powersave mode when I choose even low detail options.

If you press F8 during boot, you should get access to the boot options menu. Do you see an entry "Enable VGA Mode"? This will allow you to boot into your WinXp installation with only the resolution set to 640x480. Are you using onboard output or a graphics card?

Thanks I do that and can access. Think it is onboard output.

Can you try setting your resolution to 1440x900 - that's the W1934S native resolution.

uploadfromtaptalk1405274324224.jpg I attach screenshot of settings. Started up now but again in power saving mode. Some bios setting mode? Yet can hear windows sounds despite blank screen.

Could also be a driver issue.
I'd say uninstall your graphics driver and re-install it. All in Safe mode of course.

Yep think will reload monitor driver? Have to go find it among all the drivers.

I have two W1934S monitors and have not needed to install drivers for them.

Something is changing the display resolution/frequency when you restart your pc.

You may want to try what nakedpeanut suggested, remove the Intel graphics drivers and try re-installing.

Oh the intel graphics drivers. Will do but will have to trace the drivers as I dont have the cd.

Reloaded original intel graphics driver from Dell folder while in safe mode. Win xp screen appears but then I get out of range screen 126.1khz/240hz

Changed settings of display to default refresh rate and restarted. Everything seems fine.
Thanks a lot@oldhat and @nakedpeanut.
