Monitor Recommendations

Postman what do you think about the many varieties of 100-120Hz LED tv's?
My hunch is gaming will flow a bit better?

Crusader it is really not noticeable. I did the same test at my place and all of my LCDs did that.

I have just received a LG IPS234v-PN at work. 23" IPS 1080P. Should be cheaper than the Dell. Will report back.

Hope you can do a quick report back. About to order the Dell since I'm driving myself crazy with over thinking things.

And another question. Does the anti-glare coating on the Dell bother you? I see that's one of the complaints on some other forums.

No it doesn't, its matt screen is great. Prefer it over my old HP w2207h's gloss screen.

Just set up the LG.

Even though I am forced to use VGA for the mean time its looks fantastic. Makes my Laptops panel look pathetic.

While the stand looks ok it is absolutely terrible. It is literally wobbling due to my desk fan that is set on low a few meters away.
Not a fan of the gloss finish on the panel and stand. Fingerprint magnet.

The Dell is in a completely different league. Its like comparing a GWM car to a Audi. The stand and build quality is far superior and you get USB hub, 1200p, extra inch etc. Get the Dell.

Thanks! Just ordered the Dell U2412M. The shipping was expensive, but I guess that's the premium I have to pay for living in the middle of nowhere. Just hope it gets here without any stuck pixels and the like otherwise returns will be a hassle.

Good job.

Kindly provide links so we can educate ourselves.

Also, perhaps you can share the differnt revision numbers.

Exactly my point - you haven't done your own research, yet you are convincing others to get a product you clearly know nothing about.

Revision numbers? If you bothered to use google you would find them.
Problem numbers I saw were A00, A01, and Brawlers is A05, and he says he has no issues with flicker.

Now where is your evidence, or are you just naive enough to believe that all products are made perfect, and the users just dream up the issues and make fake video's about them?

Still waiting for you to provide it.

Everyone has posted positively on this forum about it. No reason to not recommend it on that basis. Also having experienced various EIPSes. And my own experience with my U2410 and other Dell higher end screens, proving their quality.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-rev...ie=UTF8&filterBy=addFourStar&showViewpoints=0 - 1 mention of flicker out of 100+ reviews.

Over to you now.

(Remember, I never once said it wasn't an issue to a few sensitive/pedantic folk.)

Ok, the Dell has just arrived. I like the build quality but the screen shows a greenish cast towards the bottom.

Any recommended settings I should try to use?

I haven't used the monitor much in the week I've had it aside from finishing a quick layout job on the day it arrived. Started working on it today again and, the green/red patches at the bottom of the screen is really apparent to me. It's really faint, but you can clearly see a green then red tint every third of the monitor.

Is this normal or should I start thinking of requesting an exchange?

Can you post a picture?

3 year next business day warranty.

It is not normal. I have the A04 rev, and the only thing I've found to be normal is some grey banding.

btw: is it fixed, or does it change when you move your head around?

It's fixed, I've tried to move my head around and I'm still able to spot it.

I've tried taking pics with m cell, but it doesn't pic it up. Might try later with my camera if I can coax some life into the batteries.

The color tinge is only really visible on white/light backgrounds. Can't see it on dark colors or colorful pages and it's pretty faint.
