More signs SA is going down down down

Unemployment levels are hardly a barometer - in fact, as SA moves from an industrialised nation to a 3rd world subsistence farming level, more and more people will be "working".
 
Luckily the ANC has no use for accountants or auditors.
 
I am curious as to the justification for the NPI in the current SA. It used to have high standing in the Apartheids era as productivity was often promoted. Today, with BEE and AA (not the auto one) productivity is not even a consideration especially if one looks at the goverment departments and structures. (See eNatis, Telkom, Spoornet, SAA, Dept of Home Affairs, Saps, etc,etc) And obviously the foreign (probably white) economists that does the ratings don't have to be politically correct so they can spell out the facts of life?

If one looks at some of the better rated countries one get the impression that hard work is a pertinent cultural characteristic. Maybe the ANC should push productivity rather than reverse Apartheid?

Well said.

Currently the kids are told that no matter if they work hard or not, they will get a job because they are not white. That is no motivation at all.

The white kids are told that they won't get as job unless they are extraordinary.

Actually, white kids are told to get a tertiary qualification and a passport.

lol. That was the other side of the discussion, make money, secure a foreign passport as an escape route and invest in RSA since there are huge opportunities here if you have the capital, just not safe to live here. Watch out for expropriation or seizing of assets and enjoy the best of both worlds safely.

Agreed - I have gone from the one side (supporting) to the other (opposing) in the last year.
There really is no point in hanging on to incorrect beliefs in a vain attempt to protect your ego.
What's that saying that goes along the lines of
"A wise man learns from his mistakes, a fool clings to his beliefs" ?
 
I'm feeling on the opposing side of the fence today after visiting Home Affairs.

No surprises there. Difficult to be competitive when you favour race over merit. Wonder how long before SA no longer features on the list at all?

Incredibly you can get mugged at gunpoint in the US. In the UK they use knives, bricks and other weapons to subdue their victims.

LOL! I am sure your psychiatrist believes you. The operative word is 'Victim' and what are the ODDS of becoming a victim in the US/UK?

Crime is equal everywhere, infact everything is equal to anything.
My fence is also similar (equal) to the average Australian home's fence.

Victim of what? Robbery is as likely in Australia and Europe as it is for the average middle class South African. It's the violence of the crimes that sets us apart from the rest. A tourist getting mugged isn't news in the UK, US or here. A tourist getting raped or killed is and should be cause for alarm. This does happen here, but the example given in a previous post is nothing unusual for any tourist destination.
